This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD is an all-original, unmodified, and unrestored wagon powered by a 3.0-liter inline-5 turbocharged diesel paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car was sold new by Markham Motors LTD of Somerville, New Jersey, on May 16, 1985, and accumulated approximately 100k miles while with the original owner through 2014. Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic over a blue MB-Tex interior, this 300TD is now offered with a clear New Jersey title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in its original coat of Smoke Silver Metallic (702) paint, which, while reported to be in good condition, does have some fading and minor rust. Exterior features include a chrome grille, chrome bumpers with guards, a factory-optioned sunroof, and a roof rack. The seller indicates that the trunk does not open.
Factory 14” Bundt wheels are wrapped in 195/70 Kumho Sense tires of unknown age. A brake disc shield rattle is noted per the seller.
The interior is trimmed in blue MB-Tex upholstery with matching door panels, dash, and carpet covered by factory floor mats. The dash and center console are accented with gloss woodgrain applique, and amenities include automatic climate control, power windows and locks, cruise control, and a Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo. A fold-flat third-row bench seat is fitted in the cargo area.
Instrumentation is framed by a 4-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 125-mph speedometer, a 6k tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The 6-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 114k miles, and this total is reported to be accurate.
The 3.0-liter OM617 inline-5 turbocharged diesel is original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 123 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque when new. Recent maintenance includes an oil and filter change, replacement of the front brake pads, and replacement of the battery. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a gated, console-mounted shift lever.
The CARFAX report shows no accidents or damage on record. This report and the original owner’s books showing service history from new are included with the sale. The vehicle options include the following: 411 - Steel Sunroof, Mechanical; 440 - Cruise Control; 467 - Power Central Locks; 491 - US Version; 519 - Becker Grand Prix Radio; 531 - Power Antenna; 588 - Automatic Air Conditioning; 722 - Luggage Rack; 843 - Split Rear Bench (2/3); and 702 - Smoke Silver Metallic Paint.

Any idea what is wrong with the trunk lift?
I would like to talk to the seller
BID: $6,000
Hello @Nigel, The car is highly original and really should be sorted through with some TLC before such a very lengthy voyage, such as fresh fluids and addressing a minor brake shield rattle. Fortunately they are easy to work on and have a highly knowledgeable community of enthusiasts. We are happy to assist in obtaining reasonable shipping options as well. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Has car been recently serviced and driven regularly? Is it roadworthy for a fly in then drive back to the midwest? Nigel
