This 1964 Mercury Comet 404 was refurbished prior to the seller taking ownership six years ago. Power is provided by a 351ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and performance enhancements include an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, a Pertronix distributor, Hooker headers, a high-capacity oil pan, and an aluminum radiator. The car is also equipped with a Mustang II front suspension with disc brakes and dual exhaust. Recent updates commissioned by the seller include re-chromed bumpers, interior refreshments, and fresh weather stripping. This Comet is now offered with a shop manual, carpeted floor mats, a collection of small parts, receipts, and a clear Texas title in the seller's name.
The body is finished in Burnout Blue Metallic with chrome trim and features re-chromed bumpers and a body-colored engine bay and trunk. The seller reports and photos show age-related wear on the chrome trim and some dings in the windshield molding.
A set of 14" Cragar S/S wheels show some minor rust and are wrapped in 205/70 Hankook Optimo tires. The car is fitted with what is reported to be rack-and-pinion steering and front disc brakes from a Mustang II, rear drums, and dual exhaust. The factory spare will come with the car.
The interior is trimmed in "rolled and pleated" black cloth and vinyl upholstery, body-color dash, trim, and door metal, and a black headliner, door cards, dash pad, and carpet. Lap belts are installed front and rear, weather stripping has been replaced around the doors and trunk, and new felt has been added to the front windows. Felt for the rear windows is included with the sale. The car is not equipped with air conditioning.
Wiring, per the seller, was updated under previous ownership, and the lighting and horn are functioning properly. The seller has added a tachometer and gauges for amperage and water temperature gauge because the factory units, aside from the fuel gauge, do not work. The odometer shows under 26k miles, approximately 1,500 of which have been added by the seller over six years. True mileage is not known.
Power is provided by a bored-over 351ci Cleveland V8 equipped with an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carburetor, Pertronix ignition, Hooker headers, high-capacity oil pan, and an aluminum radiator. Shifting is accomplished via a 4-speed manual transmission and the battery is located in the trunk. The seller reports a couple of small oil leaks from the engine.
Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.
A shop manual, carpeted floor mats, a collection of small parts including rear window felt, and some service receipts will go with the car.

@phe42 – Windsor or Cleveland 351 ? ...
Hello. I purchased the car mostly as is, so other than what I can physically see, I only know what the previous owner told me. It is a 351 Cleveland, aluminum Edelbrock intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, Hooker headers , Pertronix distributor, mild cam, and I was told it was bored .020. The engine I was told was a '74 Cleveland. Car has dual exhaust, limited slip rearend.Any other questions I'll be pleased to answer.
