Vehicle Story

This 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Post is powered by a “Tri-Power” 348ci V8 with Offerhouse valve covers and mated to a Lokar automatic transmission. The car is equipped with Eagle racing wheels, dual exhaust, and custom gauges. This fifth-generation Bel Air is finished in white over blue and is offered by the selling dealer with a clear Washington State title.

The Bel Air was redesigned in 1961 and this example is finished in white with a chrome grille, bumpers, and molding. A large wrap-around rear window and polished dual exhaust tips exit are featured as well.

A set of Eagle Racing wheels has replaced the original items and these are wrapped in black-walled rubber. Drum brakes are equipped on all four corners and the car does not have power steering.

The interior is trimmed in light blue cloth and vinyl with matching door panels and carpet, and a white headliner. The trunk is has a spare tire well and a single non-matching tire will go with the car. Additional photos showing the condition of the interior are provided in the gallery, and these show some discoloration in the headliner and light scratches and wear on the dash.

Factory instrumentation includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer over circular temperature and fuel level gauges. An aftermarket tachometer and an additional cluster of fuel, temperature, and voltage gauges are mounted to the bottom of the dash. Mileage is not known.

Power is provided by a “Tri-Power” equipped 348ci V8 topped with three 2-barrel carburetors and a set of Offenhauser valve covers. The engine is paired with an automatic transmission with a Lokar shifter.

I’m guessing that the auction made a mistake in listing as a private party. This is a used car dealer. Just mentioning it since some of us prefer to buy from private sellers.
