Vehicle Story

This 1962 Chevrolet C10 is a first-generation example fitted with a stepside bed which includes a spare mounted on the side, that is powered by a numbers-matching 235ci six mated to a column-shift 3-speed manual. Said to have been restored by a previous owner, the seller notes a respray while describing the build as adhering to the truck's originality, with no radio or air conditioning retrofitted. Finished in black with contrasting Chevrolet lettering on the bed and white bumpers, this C10 is offered on a clear North Carolina title in the seller's name.

This C10 was restored under prior ownership with an emphasis on preserving originality, and the repaint consists of black exterior finishes that are offset by a white grille, white bumpers, and white embossed Chevrolet lettering on the tailgate. The driver's side of the stepside bed has a factory-mounted spare tire, or "fifth wheel." Bowtie badging is present on the fenders, and the body is said to be in excellent condition.

Factory 15” black steel wheels with polished hubcaps are wrapped in tires with highway tread.

The interior is fitted with bench seat that was reupholstered in a neutral tone as part of the restoration. The door panels and dash are finished with the same color, and black carpeting is installed in the footwells. The instrument panel is devoid of cutouts and climate control consists solely of heating and ventilation.

Gauges sit behind the factory two-spoke steering wheel and consist of a 100-mph speedometer and dials for oil pressure and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 70,000 miles, which is believed to be an accurate reading by the seller.

The numbers-matching "High Torque" 235ci inline-six was rated at 135 horsepower and 217 pound-feet of torque when new, and is fed by a single downdraft carb in this C10. The engine is painted blue and mounted within a detailed matte-black engine bay. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission operated by a column-shift.

@DrDoug – Is there a reason the seller won't respond to questions? I asked about the availability of the truck for inspection, I may increase my bid if I can inspect the truck and if the seller would respond to previous comments. ...

I apologize for not having responded to questions. I am not great on the computer. It is available to come take a look at it if you would like. I was told by the previous owner that the miles were accurate to his knowledge. But I can not guarantee. To my knowledge the engine is original and not rebuilt (but again, I can not guarantee). I love driving it but am not a mechanic.

@ONTMAN1224 – Is the seller aware of any areas on the truck that have rust to the extent that it will need work? ...

I do not see any rust on the truck. Even the under-carriage is very clean. Wheel wells are clean. I did post a picture of one small spot above the passenger door that is a nick that could be touched up. It is smaller than a pinky fingernail.
