BID: $5,000
Thank you for the questions: 1. Glove Box, there is a small hole inside the glove box. Barely visible unless you are looking for it. I will fix it tomorrow with tape. It's black cardboard, as is many glove boxes and the only alternative would be to replace it, that is, if a replacement is available. The tape should make it pretty obscure. 2. The paint is near perfect, barring a 20 coat lacquer paint job. There was a chip in the headlight housing because it got knocked off on the floor while I was working on the headlight rotation. The chip has been repaired and the housing repainted. Any other indications of chips or scratches are reflections, left over wax we didn't see right away, or possibly some dirt that got on the car somehow. There are no scratches, dents, chips, or any defects in the paint. I think they just put that in the description to cover their ass. 3. Rust: There is a tiny rust spot on the air damn under the front of the car. The only way you could see it is if you are laying on your back on the ground with a flashlight. Whoever was the original buyer, paid to have the car Ziebart Undercoated. Ziebart is a spray like Line X they put in truck beds. It's sprayed inside the doors, fenders, most anyplace water might collect and cause a car to rust. The car is rock solid. 4. The oil leak appears to be from the tranny. Overnight it leaves a spot about the size of a silver dollar. The fluid hadn't been changed for years so I drained and refilled. A lot of fluid came out, almost a full quart and that's a small tranny. So it appears that the drip is minor, but I wanted to be upfront about it. I'm guessing it's a seal from sitting, but I didn't break down the tranny to figure it out. 5. Muffler: There is no large hole in the muffler. The picture is deceiving, it's just the weld where the exhaust pipe is connected to the muffler. If I can figure out how to send pictures I'll send you a close up. It's got a little black there, so I'm guessing there is a very tiny pinhole in the weld, the the muffler is in good shape. It is very loud. My sone was 14 when he purchased the car loved the sound. 6. There is no frame, it is Unibody construction. Colorado is very arid so there is no rust or degradation to the body. 7. I'm assuming you are asking about body repairs. When we purchased the vehicle 30 years ago, there was no evidence that it had ever been in an accident. Since we owned the vehicle, it hasn't been in an accident. If you are asking about mechanical repairs, absolutely, and what might you expect from a 52 year old car. We have repaired just about everything over time, but I wouldn't mislead you into thinking it's a brand new car. I'll check in the morning with Sawyer and see if there is a way to send or add pictures. If you want to call me, my number is 303-478-3874 or email me at [email protected] and I will reply with pictures regarding your concerns.
Hi Tom. A few questions for you: 1. Can you provide better pictures of the noted damage under the glove box and rust on the front? 2. Is the paint original, and is it as highly dinged and scratched as it appears in the pictures? 3. Has there ever been any rust repair on the vehicle? Is so, please explain. 4. What is the source of the noted oil leak, and how much is it leaking? 5. Please confirm that the muffler has a fairly large hole in it. 6. Is the frame solid? Has it ever had repairs? Thank you!
Hi, I'm happy to answer any questions. Tom
