This 1939 Ford Tudor Sedan is finished in black over a tan leather interior and was acquired by the seller from the original owner’s estate. The Ford underwent a three-year body-off restoration beginning in 2006 with no expense spared. The 255ci Mercury flathead V8, which is mated to a newly rebuilt 3-speed manual transmission and rear end, features Stromberg 97 carburetors, Offenhauser heads, and a Schneider 250F cam. This Ford is now offered with its original factory literature, sales brochures, receipts, photos documenting the high dollar restoration and service records, and a clear Arizona title in the seller's name.
The body was taken down to bare metal and smoothed before the application of gloss black paint. The Sedan features a two-piece angled front windshield and a split oval rear window, with a full post between the two side windows. Brightwork is featured heavily throughout, with spears running the length of the sides, chrome windshield trim, headlight trim rings, bumpers, and more. Additional features include side fender vents, full-length running boards, and a V8 emblem in the grille.
Factory steel wheels are finished in black with chrome dog dish hubcaps, all wrapped in replica vintage Firestone whitewall tires, which have fewer than 400 miles. Stopping power is provided by factory-spec drum brakes, and the suspension is the factory set-up.
The interior features a bench seat upholstered in tan leather with matching door panels and gray carpet. A custom wood dash was fitted during the restoration and houses controls for the heater, while a modern radio is fitted underneath.
Behind the black 3-spoke steering wheel sits a 140-mph speedometer and readouts for fuel, voltage, engine temperature, and oil pressure. The 5-digit analog odometer shows 363 miles, which represents mileage since the completion of the restoration.
Under the hood sits the Mercury 251ci Flathead V8 that has been professionally balanced and stroked, and is equipped with a Schneider 250F cam, Offenhauser heads, dual quad intakes, and dual Stromberg 97 carburetors. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts with an MSD distributor and ignition box, as well as a 100-amp alternator. Other upgrades consist of an aluminum radiator with electric fans and full-length headers with high-flow mufflers. Power is transferred to a rebuilt rear end through a 3-speed manual transmission.
During the restoration, the underside was addressed with all components being repainted or replated. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery.
Included in the sale are replacement drive belts, factory literature, documentation, service records, and receipts from the restoration totaling over $90,000.
