This 1953 Buick Special Tourback Sedan is a third generation example that has been with the seller for 6 years, during which time it was treated to fresh paint, reupholstered, and given a new set of tires. Maintenance performed by the seller includes a rebuilt carburetor, replaced fuel pump, and installation of new spark plugs. Said to run well, power comes from a 263ci Fireball 8 paired with a Twin Turbine Dynaflow manual transmission.
Metallic maroon paint was applied during the seller's ownership tenure and is described as being in excellent condition. Wheels wear factory hubcaps, and narrow whitewall tires are currently mounted.
The 1953 model year of the Buick Special featured some of the most memorable design elements of the era, with an aggressively styled Dagmar front bumper.
The interior contains reupholstered seating surfaces while the dash wears a contrasting two-tone color scheme that is continued on the door panels.
The instrument panel houses factory gauges behind a steering wheel of the original twin-spoke design, but the fuel gauge and speedometer are described as inoperative—replacement parts are included with the sale.
Up front sits Buick's 263ci Fireball 8 engine, which was the marque's final straight-8 before the new Nailhead arrived for 1954. Output when new was 125 horsepower at 3,800 rpm with 224 pound-feet of torque at 2,200, shuffled to the rear axle through Buick's new-for-1953 Twin Turbine Dynaflow manual transmission. Fueling is handled by a rebuilt carburetor, while other maintenance performed by the seller includes replacement of the fuel pump and spark plugs.

@ralf-who – You'd better contact the seller. The text has this as an automatic but there are pictures that clearly show a stick shift. ...
We fixed it. Now says manual.
@ralf-who – So, all the pics of the car with the red piping on the seats and the fabric on the door panels are from the wrong car? Please find a nine year-old to help you straighten-out the pictures - I'm 77 years old and tired of people using their age as a reason to do a crappy job. ...
We put all our pictures in a Dropbox folder and sent the link to AutoHunter.com. Those pictures were not in our folder. If you need more information, let us know and we'll give you our cell phone numbers. If you'd like to test drive the car, you can arrange to meet us at the Willow Springs Raceway.
@fmlondon – How does it drive? It is manual transmission, three on the tree. ...

@ralf-who – OK, this is the SECOND time this car has been posted. The first time, a few days ago, the pictures were a mix of two different cars, and this was pointed out by two different posters. That auction was deleted and this auction showed up. The interior pictures are a mix of two different cars, one with an auto trans and vinyl seating, the other with stick shift and fabric seating. Either the seller is hopelessly confused or something funny is going on. ...
The "accidentally mixed photos" issue has been sent to the support staff at AutoHunter.com. I'm a 78 year old man who isn't computer savy, so I have no idea how that happened. I appologize.
@ralf-who – AND I think it is less than forthright for AUTOHUNTER not to mention in the second auction that the first one was withdrawn because of "listing errors" or "accidentally mixed photos" or whatever they want to call it. CAVEAT EMPTOR - sellers are getting no help here from this site . ...
