This 1976 Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi is a 15-window from the Brazilian market which is described as being a largely-original, well-preserved, and legally-imported example that has three rows of seating, a stereo system, a mechanically sound drivetrain, and a professional two-tone exterior paint scheme. It was originally sold in South America but was relocated to the United States under the 25-year classic vehicle importation threshold. Power is provided by an air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle, both of which are said to operate well. Finished in two-tone red and white over a black and gray cloth interior, this Type 2 is now offered with a custom VW-branded cover and with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
This bus was professionally repainted in two-tone dark red and white, with accenting brightwork that consists of chrome headlight rings, door handles, and sideview mirrors. The 15-window body style is set up with barn-door style access on the passenger side to the cargo area, and a single front door at the driver side. The front and rear bumpers are white, an intake grille splits the dual amber marker lamps up front, and an embossed VW logo is present on the front end. The seller notes that the body is in excellent condition throughout, with glossy paint finishes and rust-free panels.
Factory steel wheels with chrome hubcaps are wrapped in new tires at all four corners. The seller states that the suspension is in proper working order with good driving dynamics observed.
The interior is fitted with black and dark gray vinyl upholstery with cloth center inserts. The seating configuration is laid out with split-bench seats for the first and second rows, followed by a full bench at the rear. The seller states that the interior is original and well-preserved in nature, with no rips or tears noted. Grab-handles are fitted to the top of the second-row seats and there are safety lap belts installed for all passengers. Amenities include an AM/FM radio and window curtains.
Gauges sit forward of a factory-style two-spoke steering wheel and include a 90-mph VDO speedometer, a fuel indicator, and warning lights for other vehicle systems. The vehicle has a five-digit mechanical odometer reading 2,184 miles, but actual chassis mileage is unknown.
The rear-mounted 1,600cc air-cooled flat-four is said to run well per the seller. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle and a floor-mounted shift lever.
