This 1986 Jaguar XJS left the factory like any other mid-series model, but was re-powered under the original owner's tenure to run a low-mileage 6.0-liter V12 from a 1995 model year Jaguar. Finished in Sebring Red over a Biscuit leather interior, this XJS is said to have recently been gone through from end to end to the tune of $40,000, work which included a cosmetic restoration in addition to mechanical upgrades and maintenance, along with the engine swap. Appearing nearly unchanged from stock on the outside, the only modification listed by the seller is a custom dual exhaust system.
The 1986 model year of the XJS was the final one for Jaguar's Sebring Red paint, and this example is said to be in excellent condition with a reflective finish that appears free of major flaws. Described as a single-owner car, this XJS appears unmodified from its original 1980s specification despite running a newer engine. Items like the DOT-mandated impact bumpers, lighting, brightwork, and badging remain unchanged, but tasteful upgrades like a set of wheels from a later model and an exhaust system with dual tips poking out from beneath the rear end provide subtle indication of the car's capability.
Wheels are from a 1990s-era XJS and come wrapped in a matching set of Bridgestone Turanza Serentiy Plus tires which feature an asymmetrical tread pattern.
Biscuit leather interior upholstery lines the cabin and extends to places such as the door panels, center console, kick panels, and elsewhere, while wood paneling adorns the instrument panel. The interior is said to have been redone, and the front seats feature red piping. Carpeting appears free of major wear and discoloration, and a Nardi steering wheel with polished spokes and a wood rim takes the place of the original padded design. The factory radio is also gone in favor of an Alpine CD deck. Polished stainless steel door sill covers bearing the Jaguar Sport name have been installed.
A matching full-size spare tire resides in the trunk.
Instead of the original 5.3-liter Jaguar HE V12 engine which developed 262 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, this XJS has been swapped to run a 6.0-liter Jaguar V12 from a 1995 model year car. The updated and enlarged engine makes 333 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque thanks to involvement on the part of TWR, who first enlarged the Jaguar V12 to six liters in 1985. While the 1986 V12 XJS used a three-speed ZF automatic, later cars with the 6.0 V12 came with the GM 4L80E four-speed. The V12 engine in this XJS has intake manifolds which display Jaguar Sport lettering and exhales through a custom dual exhaust system. Other features include custom E-Type-style louvers on the hood to help with cooling as well as hint at something a little extra under the hood, and its own laptop and interface for performance tuning in conjunction with the TWR-tuned powerplant.
The seller describes a total of more than $40,000 having been spent on this XJS during its refurbishment.

@Chibuilder – Maybe I missed it. Can seller confirm that all windows, AC, heat, horn and trip computers are working ? Anything not working or needing addressing? I love my 89 v12 convertible and it may need a sibling! ...
Its a 1986 Jaguar there are always things needing addressing. AC works, windows work, horn button does not work, wipers work, trip computer works, there are a couple aftermarket switches on console that I'm not sure what they do. This car will certainly need a Jaguar expert on retainer and the new buyer should expect to put some more money into this car to make it perfect.

@azclassics – Luckily this one was just overhauled! Sorry you had bad experience with your XJ6 ...
The car is a beauty, but in fairness to your bidders, my XJ6 3-speed had to be rebuilt twice. My Jaguar only mechanic told me this was normal. My'93 XJS 4-speed has over 200k and has never had a problem. Again, my mechanic said this was normal. Would bid on the '86 if it had the 4-speed. Like what you have done with it.

Please see the 6 pages of invoices from JaguarSport. Work performed included complete overhaul of cooling system with aluminum radiator, new hoses and an aux waterpump setup, new heavy duty alternator, double deep cycle battery setup, complete front end and mount overhaul, complete reseal of the 6.0L V12 before it was dropped in, retrofit to Aston Martin steering gear and rack, and upgraded TWR computer and Auto Tec GT management software.
@fosbergd – Thanks for your latest reply regarding colors. I had an additional question in regards to the over $40K in restoration repairs that were referenced in the description. Outside of the paint and interior work, can you please let us know what else went into the over $40K in restoration? What components were restored? Are there receipts for this $40K that was spent? I understand that the engine was swapped with a newer version yet the chassis itself has over 255K miles on it according to the Carfax. Given those miles, it would be helpful to know where exactly (which components & parts) the $40K restoration work was done and what can be documented. Thanks! ...
On top of motor swap this is what I can think of off top of my head: motor has been fully set up with an array of sensors to monitor and tune performance with the included laptop which runs TWR software and tune, rear Diff has been updated to a later outboard disc brake setup, complete suspension and brakes have been gone through, front ps rack is Aston Martin sourced, custom exhaust installed. Most of the money was spent on the cost of the updated running gear. I also think the previous owner who spent all the money got mildly taken advantage of. But there are receipts totalling $40k. Will upload Monday
