Vehicle Story

This 1954 Cadillac Series 62 has been treated to a multi-year refurbishment process encompassing a host of work including a bare-metal respray in 2009, a new exhaust system in 2010, a professionally reupholstered interior in 2013, refinished bumpers in 2014, replacement air conditioning in 2019, as well as other maintenance items. Power comes from its original 331ci Cadillac V8 according to the seller, and it is paired with a 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission. This 1954 Cadillac is now offered on a clear Texas title in the owner's name.

The exterior is finished in a shade of red not offered by Cadillac at the time of production, and the body color is contrasted by a silver roof. In 2009, the car was taken down to bare metal, during which time the metal seams and welds were brought back within factory specification and tolerance before new paint was applied. Both bumpers including the Dagmar front design were re-chromed in 2014. A crack is present in the driver's door window and the curved rear glass design was advertised during the period as a "Florentine" style window.

Wheels wear factory hubcaps and wide whitewall tires from 2010, and the rears are partially hidden by body-colored spats. A new exhaust system was installed in 2010, and it exits through a pair of bumper-integrated aero-space-inspired outlets. Fuel is added via the filler located underneath the driver-side taillight.

The interior was professionally reupholstered in 2013 and the original Frigidaire air conditioning system was replaced with a more modern unit in 2019 as per the seller. The front seats are power-adjustable.

Instrumentation includes a sweeping 110-mph speedometer which is reported to have been replaced. True mileage is unknown.

Power comes from the original 331ci Cadillac V8, which is mated to a 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission and delivers fuel via a 4-barrel carburetor. Output when new was 230 horsepower at 4,400 rpm with 330 pound-feet of torque peaking at 2,700. Maintenance and repairs performed as part of the refurbishment have included the replacement of the fuel tank in 2008. Power brakes and steering are equipped, but the seller describes a small leak in the latter system.

@MRPAUL – Good afternoon this is Paul from the Chester area in the UK . I am interested in bidding for your Cadillac having owned a 1952 model until last year sadly written off in Accident 18 months ago . Does the car drive really well and what is the current condition of the brakes and the undercarriage and chassis ? Also I noticed a number of loose wires hanging down in the pictures do these just need tidying or do they need reconnecting ? Also is the engine running really well as it is a lot more difficult to get the parts over here . I have imported 5 cars from the USA in the last few years and have a very reliable transport company who can pick up and assist with the shipping documents . I am a genuine Classic car enthusiast and collector and on July 4 th attended an American Classic car show here in the UK with my 1958 Chevrolet Apache pickup . I look forward to hearing from you . Best regards , Paul Darwent . ...

The brakes are in good working condition, also we have had no problems with the under carriage and chassis. The wire hanging down is from the air condition, was left there in error by the last person to work on it. The car is running but since it has been sitting without being driven it seems to be running rough and I have been told it needs the carburetor looked at.

Although, at first glance, this Caddy is beautiful, the term "Bare Metal" refurb seems to be stretch given the condition of the engine compartment and the trunk; furthermore, there are no photos of the undercarriage so I'd be VERY skeptical of the viability of this vehicle.
