This 2007 BMW Z4 M Roadster is one of 3,014 produced for North America and was first sold by BMW of Minnetonka, Minnesota. Since then it has covered just over 50,000 miles, yet remains largely unmodified condition with the largest change being a different set of exhaust mufflers. Finished in Black Sapphire metallic over a Black Nappa leather interior, the Z4 M shares its 3.2-liter S54 M inline-six power plant with the E46 M3, but the only drivetrain choice was a traditional 6-speed manual, and they're the only Z4s to come with BMW's celebrated hydraulic power steering. This Z4 M Roadster is now offered on a clear Missouri title.
Contrary to how most convertibles are designed, the Z4 started as a roadster with the coupe added to the model lineup later. This means the roadsters suffer little in the way of structural rigidity. This Z4 M Roadster is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic, which is one of several factory-offered colors for the model. A matching black power soft top is part of equipment, and the wheels are the stock style 224 M double-spoke design which have a set of Continental ExtremeContact tires mounted on them. Quad exhaust tips are visible beneath the front bumper, but the seller notes the system as having been changed, with the original mufflers stored in the trunk.
Drilled brake rotors are present all around.
Interior occupants are surrounded by black Nappa leather on the Z4 M's model-specific sport seats and the door panels. BMW's iDrive infotainment and navigation system was optional during this time, and this Z4 M comes only with BMW's Business CD player for a clean dash. The standard nine-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system is present. A leather-wrapped shift lever bearing the BMW M logo sprouts from the center console, and just in front of it are the controls for the power-operated soft top, heated seats, TPMS, and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The gauge cluster is made up of three instruments including a 9,000-rpm tachometer with a variable redline, a 160-mph speedometer, and two smaller dials for fuel and oil temperature.
The original set of mufflers along with a few other items are contained in the trunk.
The 3.2-liter BMW S54 M inline-six of the Z4 M Roadster is shared with the E46 M3, but the units used in the Z4 M are the most refined of the production run and rev to only 7,900 rpm instead of over 8,000. The S54 engine uses solid valve lifters and requires regular valve adjustments, and induction is handled by a set of six individual throttle bodies—one for each combustion chamber. Output when new was 330 horsepower at 7,900 rpm with 262 pound-feet of torque at 4,900. Motivation is sent to the rear M variable differential by way of a ZF 6-speed manual.
Photos of this Z4 M Roadster on a lift show an undercarriage that appears free of major corrosion.
A handful of invoices and records are included, detailing maintenance performed over the preceding two years by the current owner.
