This 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL500 is a pre-facelift R230-generation example that has covered just under 54,000 miles under three owners since new. First sold in North Carolina, the CARFAX report shows a clean history with no accidents and documents lifetime servicing at local Mercedes-Benz dealerships from 2007 until 2020, with the same one used from 2008 on. Powered by a 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated M113 V8 mated to a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, recent servicing included replacement of the front and rear Active Body Control (ABC) suspension valve blocks, along with a new ball joint and tie rod, a new engine battery, and fitment of new Michelin tires. The sale includes a clean CARFAX report, scale model, a full-size car cover, and this Mercedes-Benz SL500 is offered on a clear Maryland title in the seller's name.
Finished in factory-offered black, SL500 is from the R230 of the Mercedes-Benz SL and was manufactured in January 2006. Wheels are a set of 18" AMG style V multi-spokes which are wrapped in newer Michelin Pilot all-season tires. The front end features bi-xenon headlights with automatic cornering lights. Dual tips for the original exhaust are visible beneath the rear bumper. The seller describes two small dents with scratches surrounding them on the trunk lid. Photos with the retractable hardtop both in-place and stowed are available in the image gallery.
Front and rear valve bodies for the self-leveling and height-adjustable Active Body Control hydraulic suspension were replaced during August of 2020.
Interior upholstery is a combination of black and anthracite leather punctuated by dark brown burled walnut wood trim which is continued on the four-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Mercedes' XM Radio capable COMAND infotainment system is present and is connected to a Bose premium sound system and an in-dash single CD player as well as a six-disc CD changer. The seats are heated and climate control is the Thermotronic automatic system.
The trunk contains a cargo tie-down net and a space-saver spare tire, complete with a compressor and toolkit. A first aid kit is also pictured beside the battery.
Beneath the hood sits a Mercedes-Benz M113 SOHC, 24-valve 5.0-liter V8 which delivers 302 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 339 pound-feet of torque from 2,700 to 4,250. It is mated with a Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear axle. The CARFAX report and supplied maintenance summary printout detail exclusive dealership servicing from 2007 until 2020, with a single Mercedes-Benz dealership (Charles Barker Mercedes of Virginia Beach) having been the sole service provider from 2008 until 2020. The seller includes invoices from an independent specialist documenting replacement of the Active Body Control valve bodies, an oil service, and replacement of a steering knuckle balljoint and a front inner tie rod.
Plastic cladding and other heat shielding remain in place underneath. Additional photos showing the condition of the underside are available in the gallery.
Included in the sale are a host of maintenance records, owner's literature, a full car cover, a pair of keys with fobs, a scale model, and a clean CARFAX report.
