Vehicle Story

This 1948 Ford Deluxe Coupe is finished in red over a tan vinyl interior. Powered by a 383ci Chevrolet V8 with a 3-speed automatic transmission, upgrades include power steering, Mustang II suspension, aluminum heads, a Holley carburetor, 2.5" exhaust, and custom interior. Having had a recent tune-up in anticipation of the sale, this ’48 Ford is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean California title.

Finished in Victory Red, the car was refinished prior to the seller's acquisition. Several modifications have been made to the body including stamping louvers into the hood, frenching the headlights and taillight pockets, and shaving the handle from the trunk. All window felt and rubber seals have been recently replaced and the glass shows no signs of major chips or cracks.

15” mag wheels are wrapped in Primewell PS830 tires measuring 205/65 on the front and 235/60 on the rear. The front suspension utilizes a Mustang II setup with recently replaced shocks, power rack and pinion steering, and power disc brakes while the rear features a Ford 8” rear end with parallel leaf springs and drum brakes.

The interior features bench seats upholstered in tan vinyl with tuck and roll style stitching with matching door panels. The dashboard is finished in the same Victory Red as the exterior and features an analog clock mounted right of center on the dashboard.  A Lokar 16” shifter with matching tan shift is mounted to the floor with a polished trim ring

The factory steering wheel has been replaced with a polished billet 3-spoke unit with a red rim.  Four Dolphin gauges were installed in the factory cluster bezel, with a speedometer mounted to the right. The analog odometer reads 174 miles, however true mileage is unknown.

The car is powered by a rebuilt 383ci stroker engine, that was built out of a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette 350ci block. Performance upgrades include s a Holley 750 CFM Slayer carburetor, aluminum Edelbrock air gap intake manifold, and aluminum cylinder heads with roller rockers. Power is transferred through a rebuilt Turbo 400 automatic transmission equipped with a high stall torque converter. Recent service work includes a rebuild of the carburetor, new spark plugs, various electrical items, new exhaust tips and service of the shift linkage.

The seller states there is some corrosion on a non-structural underside panel that was caused by a leak from the original radiator, which is viewable in the gallery. Additional undercarriage photos are available in the gallery.
