Vehicle Story

This 1994 Mercedes-Benz S350 Diesel is finished in Polar White over a gray leather interior and is powered by a 3.5 liter-turbodiesel inline-six, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Showing just under 49K miles, the seller has added approximately 3K miles in their 11 years of ownership. Recent servicing includes the following items: vacuum locking system, air conditioning evaporator, heater hose replacement, and transmission and torque converter fluid flush.  Now offered with the original owners manual, original toolkit and jack, service records since the seller's acquisition, and a clean CARFAX report.  This W140 comes with a clear Texas title in the seller's name.

The exterior of the W140 is finished in Polar White (Paint Code: 149) with gray lower cladding. The seller notes he refinished the lower cladding section during ownership, including the front and rear bumpers. A rear-mounted retractable antenna is pictured, along with park sensors that protrude from the rear of the car while reversing.

Factory 16” eight-hole wheels are mounted to mismatched Michelin and Mastercraft tires measuring 225/60 on all four corners. The seller notes flat spots on the tires due to inactive use and recommends replacement given their 12-year age.

The interior features gray leather (Code: 268) with adorning carpets, floor mats, and door inserts with Zebrano wood trim on the dash and door panels. Features include heated and power front seats, both with 3-memory presets, automatic climate control, sunroof, and a CD changer. A factory Mercedes-Benz safety kit is included, stored in the shelf below the rear window. The seller states the radio and amplifier have been rebuilt by Becker America and now features Bluetooth built into the stock head unit for streaming audio.

Behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel and SRS airbag sits the instrumentation panel, including a 140-mph speedometer, a 5K rpm tachometer along with gauges for fuel level and economy, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows just under 49k miles.

When new, the 3.5-liter OM603 turbodiesel inline-six featured 150-horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes a recent transmission service, which included a filter change and a flush of the torque converter.

The clean August 2020 CARFAX report shows ownership in Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas with no reported accidents or damage from its in-service date of June 1994. The car comes with 2 remote keys as well as the original books and tool kit in the trunk.

@Cristo-Vision I reached out to Autotrader for you. Hopefully they will look at it. I've got the reserve set to the point that if it hits it I will still lose around 8k, but right now it's not moving. Hopefully they can figure it out.

@vitop – thanks for the well wishes. Mercedes took a lot of heat when they introduced the W140. I think it was the last car that was engineered first and then priced to what they needed to match up with that. They were criticized for the cars being over engineered and too expensive. The cars after these were designed with a price in mind. Not that it's a bad idea, just that they will never design cars like this again. They are really great cars. Have a great day ...

I hear you I will watch this action tomorrow and I may be able to help you out at the 5k range but that’s about it. I have two other cars I am hoping to purchase that are more fun cars. This would be my wife’s dependable one. So let’s revisit tomorrow. But if that price point doesn’t interest you I understand.

@vitop – Hi Rob. Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I am getting ready to retire and this was the car I was keeping for that, but my wife and I talked about the reality of retirement and we decided to sell it and buy a new car with a warranty so we are selling it. It is a great car. There is a minimum on it and hopefully it will get met. So far, I think its been bid up to the price of the wheels, lol ...

I need to make a correction to my last post. I said the rear sunshade works. This car does not have a rear sunshade. I drive it so infrequently and got it confused with my other Mercedes

I apologize... I did not realize I had not answered the first part of your question. Yes, all functions are operational. vacuum door locks, reversing antennas, the power rear view mirror, side mirrors, rear defroster ( I think I saw one of the lines was not heating up though the last time I used it), a/c, cruise, sunroof, rear seat headrests, rear sunshade, etc. I'm sure that I left something out, but I am pretty meticulous. When something doesn't work, it gets addressed right away.

I was able to find two more undercarriage photos. I submitted them to Autohunter to add to the listing. I am not sure if it will be done prior to Monday. The exhaust has light surface rust but is very minor, especially considering it is a 26 year old exhaust. BTW, all of my W126 cars were the same diesel engine. I did also own a V12 W140, but I have a soft spot for these diesels.

Hello Autohunters had asked that sellers try and make themselves available to answer any bidder questions in a timely fashion. So far I am impressed by this new platform and their commitment. I will try to keep up with any questions as quickly as I can!
