Vehicle Story

This 1989 Buick Reatta has covered 27,550 from new and spent much of its life in California and Nevada before moving to Idaho. With the seller for the past two years, maintenance and servicing during their ownership has reportedly included replacement of the suspension dampers, installation of an air conditioning compressor running modern refrigerant, and a new battery, spark plugs and wires, thermostat, and more. According to data compiled on the forums of the Antique Automobile Club of America, it is 1 of 786 vehicles produced in white over a red interior, and 1 of only 317 cars in that configuration equipped with a 16-way power driver seat. This second-year Reatta coupe is offered with a clean CARFAX report and a clear Idaho title in the seller’s name.

The Reatta utilized a shortened version of the General Motors E-body platform which was shared with the Riviera. This example is reported to retain its original White paint finish which has been preserved and garage-kept since new, having resided in California and Nevada its first 30 years and displaying a rust-free body. Items of note consist of pop-up headlamps, factory fog lamps in the lower front air dam, black beltline moldings with bright upper accents, and a full-width tail lamp panel with a Buick logo at the center. The seller indicates that stone chip repair was performed on one of the headlight covers.

Factory 15” five-spoke aluminum wheels are wrapped in newer tires per the seller. Steering is aided by a power rack and pinion system, and braking is handled by a four-wheel power disc setup with anti-lock operation. The four-wheel independent suspension has undergone recent refurbishment including replacement of the dampers, and a four-wheel alignment was performed.

The two-seat interior comes with power-operated red bucket seats split by a center console, and the driver's side is 16-way adjustable. The car is reported to be 1 of 317 cars produced for 1989 in this configuration according to data from the AACA. The door panels, dash, and carpeting are fitted in matching materials. Amenities include newly-serviced air conditioning with automatic digital climate control, a touch-screen system control interface, a keyless entry system, cruise control, a replaced Delco AM/FM stereo with a repaired and fully functional cassette deck, and a tilt-adjustable steering column.

The factory leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel features a Reatta logo on the horn button and fronts a digital gauge array with readouts for speed, fuel level, and other vehicle systems. The digital odometer reads 27,550 miles, which are original per the seller and CARFAX report.

The fuel-injected 3.8-liter Buick LN3 12-valve V6 is original to the vehicle and has been regularly maintained, with service history supported by over 30 records on the CARFAX report. The powerplant was rated at 165 horsepower at 5,200 rpm with 210 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 when new. Recent maintenance includes replacement of the battery and the air conditioning compressor, a refrigerant conversion to R134a, new spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, all water hoses, thermostat, new coolant, and new transmission filter and fluid. A fuel injection service was carried out in 2008, along with a lubrication of the body, and a full maintenance inspection. Power is transferred to the front wheels via a GM 440T-4 four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.

The CARFAX report shows no accidents or damage on record. The car passed a California state smog inspection in 2017.
