This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible has been in the same family for approximately 40 years and was the 780th unit built for its model year according to the seller who describes a restoration in 2001 along with an engine rebuild. Reported to have been garage-kept since, power comes from a Pontiac 350ci V8 paired with a 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic, and equipment includes a Firebird 400 appearance package consisting of scooped hood, dual exhaust, chrome bits, and more, while the tires, fuel lines, and valve cover gaskets were replaced in 2020. This 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible wears Solar Red with a black soft top over a black interior and is offered on a clear Virginia title in the seller's name.
Solar Red was a factory-offered color for the 1968 model year and the finish here is described as being part of a restoration dated to 2001. Firebird 400 parts including a hood with dual scoops and a trunk lid spoiler are present while other equipment consists of a hood-mounted tachometer, Rallye wheels, a power-operated convertible top. The Pontiac 350 exhales through a dual exhaust and Firebird 400 badges are present on the hood near the scoops.
Rallye wheels with Pontiac center caps wear a matching set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires which were mounted in 2020.
Black vinyl upholstery lines the interior which houses front seats divided by a center console containing the shift handle for the Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed. Wood trim is featured on the center console and stack, in addition to the faceplate of an older tape deck which features Pontiac branding. Windows are operated by crank, but the convertible top is powered. The steering wheel follows the factory design but is modified with a thick rim. Aftermarket floor mats with Firebird lettering line the footwells.
An optional 8,000-rpm tachometer is mounted on the hood while the instrument cluster houses a 160-mph speedometer beside a large fuel gauge. Indicator lights monitor other vehicle systems.
A Pontiac 350ci V8 is mounted within the engine bay and sits below a chrome air cleaner cover and an Edelbrock intake manifold. The four-barrel carburetor was tuned in 2020 and the engine features other chrome parts such as the valve covers, oil cap, and alternator, while the block is painted the corporate blue color. Output when new was 265 gross horsepower at 4,600 rpm with 355 pound-feet of torque peaking 2,800, and the engine is mated to a Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed.

It’s in Austin, Texas. Just moved it in enclosed transport from Arlington, VA in January.
Hi! Is your car located in Virginia or Texas? I’m asking because I’m starting to think about transportation. I’m actually from Richmond Virginia and currently live in Charlotte North Carolina. Thank you.

Have never listed the car for sale until now. Have had people make unsolicited offers but was not interested in selling at that time. Moving around a lot for work now.
and why it didn't sell, it looks good from here.
