This 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air is a two-door sedan that was purchased by the seller 32 years ago and restored shortly thereafter. It features an aluminum dual exhaust system, a factory tachometer, 14” chrome wheels, and a partially refurbished interior which contains original and original equipment materials. Power comes from the numbers-matching 230ci inline-six paired with a Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in a Meadow Green repaint over a green vinyl and cloth interior, this Bel Air is offered on a clear South Dakota title in the seller’s name.
This Bel Air was resprayed in its original Meadow Green (68) at the time of restoration by the seller in 1991 and is reported to have been garage-kept ever since. Its finishes and fitment are said to be in excellent condition and free of rust, despite being an older restoration. The front and rear bumpers, window surrounds, door handles, and side moldings are chrome and free of pitting or corrosion according to the seller, and an aluminum dual exhaust system is fitted.
Aftermarket black and chrome five-spoke 14” wheels with spinner caps are wrapped in 25-year-old Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires.
The interior was refurbished at the time of restoration in 1991, and said work involved the installation of new two-tone green cloth inserts for the bench seats, although the vinyl itself is said to be original. The carpet, headliner, and weather stripping were replaced concurrently using original equipment manufacturer materials wherever possible according to the seller. The matching green dash is a two-tier design, with a lockable glove compartment at the passenger side and a series of horizontally-configured gauges facing the driver. The car's original push-button radio has been retained in the dash. The trunk lid underside shows factory sticker placement, and the trunk itself houses the spare tire and a vinyl liner.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a column-mounted 7,000-rpm tachometer, and a fuel gauge, along with warning lights for other vehicle systems. A pod of three additional aftermarket gauges has been mounted below the center of the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 80k miles but was replaced at the time of restoration, and true mileage is unknown. The seller has added 4,500 miles since the restoration 30 years ago, and total overall mileage is estimated to be in the neighborhood of 100k.
The 230ci inline-six is described as the numbers-matching unit, is mounted within a matte-black engine bay, and has been upgraded with a split manifold and an aluminum exhaust system. Maintenance has been performed by the seller over the course of their ownership. Power is transferred 3.70:1 rear end through a Saginaw 4-speed. Output when new was 140 horsepower at 4,400 rpm with 220 pound-feet of torque at 1,600.

@Musclecars – Was there rust in the body prior to your restoring the car? What type of paint materials were used (base coat/clearcoat, acrylic enamel, lacquer, etc)? Who did the work? Thank you! ...
Hi I do not recall this car having any rust at all. Acrylic enamel paint was applied by Henjum body shop at Harrisburg, SD. You can call or text me at 605-881-2529 or email me at [email protected]. Feel free to call if you need further information. Thank You for the interest and happy bidding.
