This 1963 Buick Riviera is a first-year, first-generation example that is described as having been the subject of a custom build with highlights that include two-tone paint, custom wheels, rear air suspension, and extensive chrome trim, among more detailed below. Power comes from a Buick 401ci Nailhead V8 bolted to an automatic transmission, and equipment includes power steering, brakes, seats, and windows, along with air conditioning. This 1963 Buick Riviera is offered on a clear Florida title in the seller's name.
Designed by General Motor's Bill Mitchell in the early 1960s, the Riviera was added to Buick's lineup with the Ford Thunderbird as a competitive target. This example is finished in two-tone candy apple red over silver and wears chrome trim and bumpers. The grille is a custom slatted design which goes without badging and headlights are hidden by covers, while the hood features custom scoops set back near the firewall. The front fenders wear additional trim while the appointments on the rear fenders have been deleted.
The rear end rides on an air suspension while the front uses the factory independent design which has been lowered. Power steering and power brakes were equipped as standard for 1963 and motivation is put to the ground by way of low profile tires mounted on aftermarket chrome wheels.
The interior plays host to reupholstered seats which wear custom fabric front and rear in addition to generous amounts of different metal trim elsewhere. Power-adjustable front seats are divided by a center console and the exterior color scheme of red is continued on the dash and console. Door panels are fitted with two separate handle mechanisms, one for front passengers and another for those in the rear.
Instrumentation is housed in a custom dash panel fitted behind a three-spoke chrome steering wheel wrapped in silver leather. Mileage covered since completion of the build is unknown.
A 401ci Nailhead V8 originally rated at 325 gross horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 445 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 is present under the hood and mated to an automatic transmission. Customization in the engine bay matches the rest of the car's candy apple red over silver color theme with a custom engine cover, valve covers, along with coolant and electrical lines.
A dual exhaust system is routed along the underside of the car which is finished with a black coating.
