This 1970 Chevrolet El Camino is described as restored and recently received a complete engine overhaul with a long list of performance upgrades to its 350ci V8, including an aluminum intake, HEI ignition system, replacement headers, a mild cam, an FiTech fuel injection system, and much more. Power is delivered by a numbers-matching TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the drivetrain work, this El Camino also received a professional restoration and features aftermarket chrome wheels on low-profile tires, a vinyl roof, tonneau cover, and interior enhancements such as Dakota Digital gauges, USB charge ports, and a keyless entry system. Finished in red with a black vinyl roof over a black interior, this third-generation El Camino is offered with a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The third-generation El Camino body style was based on the Chevrolet Chevelle station wagon platform and this example was professionally painted in red with a black vinyl roof, complemented by dual black accent stripes on the hood. The gloss and quality of the paintwork is shown in detail in photo carousel, and the car’s accompanying brightwork for the bumpers, mirrors, handles, and badging is all said to be in excellent condition throughout. The front fenders wear El Camino 350 badges. A vinyl tonneau cover is installed which pivots upward at the rear to access the color-matched interior of the bed. The drop-down tailgate has a black-finished panel between the taillamps, and there are dual exhaust outlets located at each corner of the rear.
Aftermarket five-spoke chrome wheels are wrapped in low-profile Venezia tires at all four corners. The suspension has been lowered one inch with Hotchkiss springs in the front and Chevrolet Chevelle coils in the back. The braking system has been upgraded to discs with slotted and cross-drilled rotors.
The interior is fitted with a reupholstered black vinyl and cloth bench seat with dual headrests, along with matching door panels, dash with replacement vents, and carpeting which is protected by custom embroidered floor mats. An AM/FM stereo system is installed, and the seller states that all electrical components are working. Additional amenities include a fully-sorted air conditioning system and dual USB ports in the location where the cigarette lighter was located.
Instrumentation is comprised of aftermarket Dakota Digital gauges that retain a similar aesthetic to the factory setup, with a 120-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, in addition to digital clock. The digital odometer reads 38k miles, which reflects the distance driven since the build was completed.
The 350ci V8 was bored over .030 with new pistons and rings and was fully rebuilt 700 miles ago. It comes with an extensive list of upgrades and enhancements, and the seller indicates that the following were incorporated: Eagle rods, double-roller timing chain, replacement oil pump, Speed Pro mild cam with .420 lift, replacement cam bearings, new valves (194 intake, 160 exhaust) with springs, retainers, and locks, a dual-plane aluminum intake, replacement water pump, FiTech fuel injection, HEI ignition, short-tube headers, 8mm spark plug wires, a distributor cap and rotor, and belts and hoses. The engine bay was dressed up with new chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by the car's numbers-matching TH350 3-speed automatic transmission.
Photos showing the underside can be viewed in the carousel.
