Vehicle Story

This 1979 Jeep J10 4x4 flatbed pickup is offered for sale in Phoenix, Arizona with a custom fabricated flatbed, authentic patina and 85,700 original miles on the odometer. Motivated by a 4.2L inline-six, power is shifted through a four-speed manual transmission and put to the ground by way limited-slip rear differential or to all four wheels with its Dana manual four-wheel-drive system. Equipment includes power brakes, power steering, heat, and AM/FM radio all said to be in proper working order. The original owner's manual and a clean Arizona title in the seller's name are included in the sale of this J-series pickup.

Finished largely in original white striped Firecracker Red (CC: 6P) paint, the truck's exterior exhibits ample patina and features a front end conversion to the earlier "Gladiator" style seven-slot grille used in pre-1970 models. In place of the factory standard short box is a custom steel framed flatbed with black fender flares and hitch receiver mounted at the rear.

Standard wheels are fitted with a set of lightly used BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/A tires and topped off by chrome hub caps with "Jeep" branding on the rears and locking hubs in place on the front. Power steering is equipped along with power braking through standard front discs and rear drums.

Fresh black vinyl upholstery is fitted over bench seating and matching black vinyl door panels complete with chrome manual window cranks and door handles. Interior equipment consists of heat, air ventilation, AM/FM radio and the manually engaged four-wheel drive by way of floor-mounted transfer case shifter.

The instrument cluster includes dials for fuel level, coolant temperature, battery voltage, and oil pressure as well as a 100 mph speedometer with an integrated odometer reading of 85,710 miles. A separate aftermarket fuel level gauge is mounted on the bottom side of the dash next to the radio as an alternative to the factory unit.

Power is provided by a 4.2L inline-six rated at 110hp from the factory with its two-barrel carburetor and shifted manually by way of a four-speed manual transmission. The engine is reported to be "turn-key" and smooth running along with the factory manual four-wheel-drive system commissioned by Dana as opposed to the optional "Quadra-Trac" full-time systems equipped as standard before 1977.

Underneath, the rear axle is noted to be a limited slip unit accompanied by a full leaf spring suspension and single exhaust system which exits at the rear.

The seller offers a test drive and walk-around video of the truck detailing condition and functionality. Additional photos are available for viewing in the gallery.
