Vehicle Story

This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is powered by a 383ci Chrysler V8 running a performance cam, which is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission sending power to a 3.90:1 posi-traction rear end. Modifications include a Holley 750-cfm carburetor and intake manifold, a high-torque starter, ceramic coated headers, line lock, aftermarket wheels with low-profile tires, and a Dakota Digital gauge cluster among more, while the interior contains a Hurst shifter and bench seating. Finished in Graphite Grey with a dark exterior color scheme over a black interior, this 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is equipped with power steering and front disc brakes and is now offered by the selling dealer.

This Road Runner coupe comes from the model’s second year, which brought changes to the grille, side marker lights, and taillights. This example was resprayed in dark charcoal metallic and has received customization to the exterior in the form of matte blacked-out chrome bumpers, emblem- and decal-free side panels, red 383 emblems on the hood, and a dual exhaust system.

Aftermarket chrome-finished five-spoke Rev wheels by Holley are installed in staggered-size configuration and wrapped in Cooper tires in the rear and Yokohama tires in the front. Handling is assisted by a power disc braking system with red calipers and rotors that are both cross-drilled and slotted. The car is equipped with a line lock, and the suspension has been lowered from stock.

The interior is fitted with black vinyl bench seating with a matching dash, door panels, and carpeting. There are Road Runner logos at the passenger side of the dash as well as on the hub of the steering wheel. Items of note include a Hurst shift lever, tinted windows, and a vinyl liner in the trunk.

Instrumentation is provided by replacement white-faced and red backlit gauges from Dakota Digital which include a 160-mph speedometer and an 8,000-rpm tachometer, along with smaller dials for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. A digital odometer showing 56k miles is present in the center of the gauge array, which reflects the distance covered since the build was completed.

Beneath the hood sits a Chrysler 383ci B V8 which is fitted with a performance camshaft and Moroso valve covers, while a Holley 750-cfm carburetor delivers fuel through an intake manifold of the same manufacturer. Exhaust is channeled through ceramic-coated headers, and a 4-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear 3.90:1 posi-traction rear-end. Other items include a high-torque starter and a line-lock system, in addition to the aforementioned front disc brakes and power steering.
