This 1965 Ford Mustang is described as a largely unmodified example that has had one owner since 1970. Power comes from a 289ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and which has recently received an oil change, a transmission gasket replacement, and a carburetor rebuild this year. Finished in Blue over a blue vinyl interior, this Mustang is offered with a factory shop manual, extra keys, and a clear Utah title in the seller’s name.
This Mustang is painted Blue and wears exterior trim in the form of window surrounds, side accents, and emblems. The seller says the vehicle has had one owner since 1970 and has been largely garage-kept during that time. The front end received a replacement front bumper, but other brightwork is said to be in excellent original condition. A set of aftermarket mud flaps are present.
Mustang-branded covers are fitted to 14" steel wheels wrapped in Hankook Optimo whitewall tires with date codes that correspond to 2012.
The interior contains reupholstered blue vinyl bucket seats with the lap belts, while the door panels, dashboard, and carpeting wear matching materials. As shown in the photo carousel, there is a small split in the shoulder of the driver's side upholstery. Items of note include embroidered floor mats with the Mustang logo, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a center console with bright accents that houses a T-handle shift lever. Although vents for an air conditioning system are fitted beneath the instrument panel, the seller indicates that the compressor and other components of the system have been removed. The trunk is lined with a plaid vinyl mat and contains a spare tire.
Gauges are laid out with a central 120-mph speedometer bordered by a fuel gauge and a coolant temperature gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer displays 15k miles, but true mileage is believed to be 115k as the odometer has rolled over once.
The 289ci small-block Ford V8 is fueled by a two-barrel carburetor and received maintenance in the form of an oil service and a carburetor rebuild this year, along with replacement of the transmission fluid and gasket, all of which are reported to have been performed by the seller. The drivetrain consists of a Ford C4 3-speed automatic which is operated by a T-handle center console-mounted shifter.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a factory 1965 Ford Comet, Falcon, Fairlane, and Mustang shop manual, and spare keys.

@gfichter – Thank you for your nice comments, Stacy. I have uploaded a photo of the door tag for you. It's a little hard to read since the data is just pressed into the metal plate with no color to make it stand out. Let me know if there are parts that you can not read, and I will copy it and send it to you. Regarding the a/c compressor, I removed that many years ago because the engine was running too warm, even with the thermostat totally removed. I learned recently that that is a common phenomenon with that vintage of Mustang. Some people have put in larger radiators, from what I have been told, so that they could keep the engine cooler and keep the a/c. We no longer have any of those parts from under the hood. The hoses are there and the missing parts can be purchased. I probably made a mistake years ago by removing the a/c and throwing away the parts, but we weren't into cars as a collector item. I guess we really still aren't. We just happen to have this car. You sound pretty serious and I would want you to be happy if you win the bid. The writers from Auto Hunter said in their first sentence that this a largely unmodified car. That is true and it is also a little bit of a double edged sword. The car is a 1965, after all. We've kept it in good running condition and in the third stall of our garage, so it is basically in quite good shape. But, there are little things that you could leave as is, or spend a small amount of money and make better. Let me know if there is any other way I can help you. ...
Gary Thanks for the additional info and the pic. Very helpful. I understand about the AC. I had a 65 before with factory air and needed to do some work on the compressor and messed around with the thermostat. I was looking for a 65 with 289, cruisomatic, and AC. Love the originality of this car. Again, thanks for all the info. Stacy

@Stacy – Thank you for the great info. Very helpful. Beautiful car. I was wondering if you could provide all the warranty identification from the door tag. Also, do you have the AC compressor? Thank you! ...
Hi Stacy, I answered your question and added a picture of the door decal for you. I don't see either of those on the website now. I'm not sure if I did anything wrong. Did you get the information? Gary

@gfichter – We have been the owners of this car since 1970. It has been garaged and not driven in Winter conditions, such as salty roads, since 1990. Prior to that, it was one of our normal daily transportation vehicles. The car has not been in an accident or in any natural disaster such as a flood since we have owned it. While we can not attest to the first five years of its life, it seemed like it was in good condition, or we would not have bought it. It certainly has not given us any trouble that would tip us off to unseen damage. The tires are 9 yrs old. Since the car has been garaged and driven sparingly, the tires have excellent tread and no cracking or dry rot. They look almost brand new and I am confident they have a lot of life still in them. The power steering is not currently operational. The unit needs to be overhauled or replaced. The car handles fine without it. It only requires a little extra muscle to make a tight turn from a standstill. If you noticed the wet spot on our driveway under the exhaust pipe, it is condensation. It was a chilly morning when I took those photos. ...
