Vehicle Story

This 1950 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight convertible is described as a driver-quality restoration that underwent a fuel system overhaul and rolls on Firestone wide whitewall tires. Power comes from a numbers-matching 303ci Rocket V8 paired with a 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission, and feature content includes an analog clock, a replacement canvas top, and power windows. Finished in Cream over a reupholstered red leather interior, this third-generation Ninety-Eight is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Louisiana title.

The Ninety-Eight was Oldsmobile’s flagship model and grew into a new body style on General Motors’ C-Body platform beginning in 1948, offering standard equipment such as front and rear bumper guards, a radiator ornament, and more. This example from 1950 was reportedly repainted in its original Cream color and exhibits good cosmetic condition. The black canvas soft top has been replaced, and the chrome is reported to be in good shape throughout. There are some stone chips around the exterior, but the seller indicates the body is free of rust.

Steel 15” wheel wearing wire covers are mounted to Firestone wide whitewall tires.

The cabin delivers front and rear bench seating with reupholstered red leather, tied in with the door panels, dash, and carpeting. An aluminum accent panel extends from the doors through the center dash, and the interior affords conveniences including an analog clock, a radio, and power windows.

A semi-circular 110-mph speedometer delivers vehicle speed information while surrounding gauges have readouts for oil pressure, fuel level, voltage, and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 66k miles, though true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 303ci Rocket V8 is topped by a four-barrel carburetor and is reported to be up to date on service. The fuel tank and fuel system have been refurbished according to the seller. Power is directed to the rear wheels through a Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission.
