This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle comes with build documentation from the seller’s 17 years of ownership, including details on the modified crate 502ci V8 powerplant which has been estimated to produce in excess of 500 horsepower. Equipment includes a March Performance pulley kit, Demon carburetors, and ceramic-coated headers, all working together to send power to the rear tires by way of a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. Finished in a respray of Cobalt Blue Metallic over a gray cloth interior, this second-generation Chevelle sport coupe is now offered with build documentation and with a clear Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The Chevelle lineup received a cosmetic refresh in 1968 that brought in “Coke bottle” styling and a kick-up body line in the C pillar area. This 1970 Chevelle was reportedly professionally repainted in Cobalt Blue Metallic with dual white stripes on the hood and the trunk lid. At the nose, the engine bay resides under an optional ZL2 cowl-induction hood with lock pins, and SS 502 emblems have been installed on each front fender. The surrounding vehicle brightwork for the bumpers, headlight bezels, window trim, and sideview mirrors are reported to be in good condition.
Five-spoke polished-aluminum five-spoke wheels are mounted to replacement Mastercraft Stratus AS tires. Handling is assisted by power steering and power front disc brakes, and the suspension has been upgraded with Global West tubular control arms and QA1 high-performance coilovers.
The interior is customized with gray cloth bucket seat upholstery and white accent piping, and similar colors and textures adorn the door panels, dash pad, and headliner. Overall interior condition is reported to be in fair shape, and creature comforts such as air conditioning and power windows are installed. The trunk is reported to contains the car’s correct jack assembly.
In lieu of factory gauges, this Chevelle’s instrument cluster features a series of modern round aftermarket readouts including a speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement GM crate 502ci V8 was reportedly rated at 502 horsepower and is accompanied by dynamometer test results. Performance equipment includes a March Performance pulley kit, an MSD ignition system, Demon carburetors, an Optima yellow top battery, and an electric fuel pump. A set of aftermarket Doug’s headers and the 3” exhaust system are said to be ceramic-coated, and recent maintenance has reportedly been carried out including replacement of the radiator and the fuel tank. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and the rear ends is a 12-bolt setup with a 3.73 gear ratio.
The sale includes documentation in the form of receipts and specifications.
