This 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible has been driven approximately 300 miles since 2008 when the seller took possession leaving it with less than 55,000 original miles on the odometer. Powered by its original 292ci Y-Block V8 paired with an automatic transmission, the car is optioned with an AM radio, heater/defroster, soft top, white sidewall tires, power brakes, and power steering along with an updated 12-volt electrical system. Located in Greenville, South Carolina, this T-bird is offered for sale with service records, documentation, and a clean title in the seller's name.
Finished in Torch Red (CC: 1024-H) with chrome bumpers and trim pieces, the car's exterior features a white convertible soft top, removable rear wheel fender skirts, functional scoop on the hood, and dual exhaust exits through the rear facia. The seller reports there is some evidence indicating the car has had some bodywork and a repaint completed prior to taking ownership in 2008 and has included photos of any minor dings in the finish along with a shot of one small imperfection in the otherwise excellent fabric top material.
Wire wheels are fitted with replica whitewall bias-ply rubber and the 102-inch wheelbase handled by way of 4-wheel power disc brakes and power steering. It is also noted that the car does not come equipped with the optional factory hardtop and some surface rust is present on the underside.
The interior is finished in red and complete with bucket seating upholstered in white and complemented by red lap belts. Door panels are two-tone red and white with stainless hardware to match the dash and steering wheel which are described to be in excellent condition without any significant signs of wear or cracking. Interior equipment includes an AM radio and heater/defroster all powered by an updated 12-volt electrical system.
Instrumentation is horizontally opposed and consists of a 150-MPH speedometer along with additional dials for the dash clock and fuel level which are currently not functioning, and coolant temperature. According to the seller, all 54,626 miles displayed on the odometer are authentic and original to the car.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels by way of the original 4-barrel carburetor equipped 292ci Y-Block V-8 and "Ford-O-Matic" automatic transmission with a factory horsepower rating of 198hp. The car is plated and driven without any notable issues other than a small fluid leak coming from the transmission.

Given the vehicle has moved very little in the last several years and it’s age, I can only recommend trailering it.
BID: $24,000
Would the car be safe to drive cross country, or would it be better to trailer it?
