This 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe has been with the seller for the past three years after it was acquired from long-term ownership. Power comes from a 324ci Oldsmobile Rocket V8 backed by a 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, and the seller describes sound running condition and says there are no fluid leaks. Fitted with an older aftermarket radio in the glovebox, two sets of hubcaps come with, including a set described as original, along with a car cover. Originally finished in two-tone Panama Blue and Frost Blue according to its trim tag, the seller describes the current finish as a shade of factory-offered Bimini Blue and white, and this 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe is offered on a clear Arkansas title.
This Oldsmobile Super 88 is from the model's second generation, and the Holiday Coupe has a pillar-less greenhouse when the windows are rolled down. The car's trim tag indicates it was originally finished in Panama Blue (41) and Frost Blue (43), but the seller describes the current finish as factory-offered Bimini Blue (42) and white. Brightwork exhibits a deep, reflective shine in the photos and takes the form of front and rear light surrounds, trim, and bumpers. The front bumper has integrated driving lights and Oldsmobile lettering, and dual exhaust finishers exit beneath the rear. Badging consists of Super 88 emblems on the front fenders, Oldsmobile globes on the hood and trunk, and an 88 insignia on the rear with the Oldsmobile rocket beside it.
Wheels wear aftermarket hubcaps, but two additional sets, including one described as original, are pictured and said to be included.
The color scheme is continued on the interior in the form of blue and white upholstery for the front and rear bench seats, door panels, and a color-matched padded dash and instrument panel. Windows are operated by crank, rubber floor mats line the front footwells, and although a Deluxe radio is present, the seller says an aftermarket head unit has been installed in the locking glovebox below it.
Instrumentation comes in the form of a 120-mph speedometer which is flanked by the standard array of gauges for amperage, temperature, fuel level, and oil. The steering wheel is the factory style and matches the instrument panel, and the 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission is shifted with a lever on the column.
The engine is a 324ci Oldsmobile Rocket V8, which was the second displacement to become available. Output when new was 202 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 332 pound-feet of torque at 2,400, with a Rochester four-barrel carburetor delivering fuel. The engine wears the corporate green paint applied during the period and a power steering pump is fitted. A 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission sends power to the rear axle.
Photos capturing the undercarriage are available for viewing in the carousel.
