Vehicle Story

This 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe is the product of a custom build which included shaved door handles, an engine swap, and a complete respray. Equipment and items of note include a reupholstered interior, Grant steering wheel, modern gauges, and a stereo system. Power comes from a 350ci small-block Chevrolet V8 backed by a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed, and color-matched wheels are wrapped in whitewall tires. Finished in Viper Red over a gray cloth interior, this 1940 Ford is accompanied by documentation and awards, and is offered on a clear Oregon title in the seller's name.

The finish of this 1940 Ford is Viper Red, and the exterior has been modified with shaved door and trunk handles, as well as a flush-mounted fuel door. The rest of the body remains unmodified from its original specification which includes split front and rear glass and a sloping roofline. Brightwork consists of the bumpers, grille, trim, moldings, and light bezels, and the seller says the car has been recognized with awards at local car shows during their ownership.

Color-matched steel wheels with metal center caps are wrapped in whitewall tires. Handling is assisted by rack and pinion steering, braking is handled by power-assisted discs.

The interior is trimmed with reupholstered gray cloth seating with fold-down armrests and lap belts, while the door panels match and carpeting have been replaced. The dash is color-matched in Viper Red and houses a billet aluminum instrument panel and a modern AM/FM/CD sound system, and is fronted by a wood-rimmed Grant steering wheel. Additional amenities include power windows, door openers, and air conditioning.

An aftermarket gauge bezel was grafted to the dash in place of the car’s original instruments, and include a speedometer, as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The seller notes that the electric fuel gauge is intermittent. The replacement odometer reads just over 6k miles, but total chassis mileage is unknown.

Power comes courtesy of a 350ci Chevrolet small-block V8 which wears Edelbrock valve covers and an air cleaner assembly of the same brand. The alternator is finished in chrome and the engine sends power the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed. Other equipment includes power front disc brakes and rack and pinion steering.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

The sale includes awards and documentation dating back to the original owner.
