This 1977 MG MGB roadster is adorned with back-dated chrome bumpers and moves under the power of a later-model General Motors V6 coupled with a GM 3-speed automatic transmission. Initiated as a custom build by a prior owner, the seller purchased this MGB in 2014 and completed the work to the interior and overall finishes. Appointments include wood interior trim and a Pioneer sound system and recent maintenance has included installation of a new alternator and serpentine belt. Finished in red with black graphics over an original vinyl interior, this MGB is now offered with a factory hardtop, full and half tonneau covers, a twice-used soft top, and a clear Maryland title in the seller’s name.
Manufactured in England by the British Motor Corporation, the MGB model launched in 1962 and received cosmetic changes in the 1970s to incorporate revised impact bumpers in response to U.S. regulations. This example received a back-dating treatment to reinstall chrome bumpers along with bumper guards and period correct Lucas fog lamps as part of a cosmetic refurbishment. The car comes with both a matte black factory hard top and a replacement black cloth soft top. Bright accents at the rear include a trunk-mounted luggage rack and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes that there are minor paint chips under the tonneau cover.
The 14” five-spoke aluminum wheels wear MG-branded caps and are wrapped in Michelin Defender tires. The suspension has reportedly been refurbished with newer ball joints and idler arms, along with a rear shock conversion. A rear anti-roll bar became standard equipment in 1977.
The interior is trimmed with the original black vinyl bucket seats along with new color-matched door and kick panels, a center console, carpeting, and plush MG floor mats. Amenities include wing windows, a Moto Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel, a rebuilt heater with 2-speed fan, and refurbished wood trim. Audio is provided by an upgraded Pioneer sound system offering MP3 and XM connectivity with speakers mounted behind the seats. Cabin-matching floor covering extends into the trunk which houses a spare tire under a carpeted cover. The seller notes that the driver seat needs grease to adjust the back easily but the interior is otherwise fully sorted.
Instruments include a 120-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges showing fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 68k miles, and while the seller believes the total to be accurate, true chassis mileage is unknown.
The factory-issued inline-four was swapped for a General Motors V6 which reportedly had fewer than 10k miles when installed. Engine bay upgrades consist of an Edelbrock carburetor, a chrome-finished MG-branded air cleaner, an electric cooling fan, an MGC fiberglass bonnet, and a custom stainless-steel true dual exhaust system with chrome tips. Recent maintenance included the installation of a replacement alternator, a new serpentine belt in 2020, and a new battery in April 2021. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a replacement GM 3-speed automatic transmission.
The sale includes a factory hardtop, a lightly used soft top, and both full and half tonneau covers.

Hi Boobola, The car is 158.3 inches long. The horse power is believed to be 160 but I have never had it on a dynamometer. It moves pretty good! Thanks for looking.

I've been driving it for seven years now and have never had a problem. Thanks for looking!
@Tydatty – None. But when I go that fast in that little car all I usually hear is my wife's screams. ...
