This 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL550 roadster is offered for sale by its second owner in Oro Valley, Arizona with under 42,000 original miles displayed on the odometer and annual dealership servicing starting in 2016. Power delivery is managed by a sequential fuel-injected DOHC 5.5L V8 paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission while recent updates commissioned by the seller include all new tires, new batteries, and new ceramic coating on the body and wheels. Options include speed-sensitive power steering, PTS, power seats with memory, automatic dimming mirrors, and Airscarf neck-warming system. This R230 SL550 is offered for sale with a clean CARFAX report and clear title in the seller's name.
Finished in Palladium Silver Metallic (792U), R231's 550SL's were designed with a longer and wider stance on an all-aluminum bodyshell featuring front quarter and cowl venting as well as a retractable hardtop roof structure. Protective ceramic coating was applied to the body in June 2021, per the seller.
Like the body, the 5-spoke alloy wheels wear a newly applied ceramic coating, as well as a fresh set of Continental Extreme Contact tires. Adaptive and speed-sensitive power steering is equipped as standard along with semi-active adjustable damping suspension, ABS, and traction control.
Standard interior features include a navigation system, cruise control, heat and air conditioning, 'FrontBass' sound system, adaptive windshield wipers, programmable garage door opener, power-adjustable heated and cooled seats, overhead and side air bags, and auto-dimming mirrors. Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and 7k-rpm tachometer, along with dials for coolant temperature and fuel level.
The interior is finished in black leather throughout with optional woodgrain accents on the steering wheel and console. Additional features include parking sensors, power mirrors and windows, and a power hatch/deck lid. The odometer shows 41,808 original miles.
Power is provided by a sequentially fuel-injected DOHC 5.5L V8 factory rated at 382hp and shifted by way of a 7-speed automatic transmission. Regular annual Mercedes-Benz dealership inspections and servicing can be traced back to 2016. A "B" service was performed in June 2021, which included replacement of the pneumatic system equipment (PSE) pump, filters, fluids, and two new replacement batteries.

I’m sorry but I’ve only owned the vehicle for 6 months and driven it less than 1200 miles. It had a complete service by the Mercedes dealership here last month. I can’t tell you if it would be “reasonable” to drive it 1000 miles in a few days.

It is not an every day driver. I average about 200 miles a month in it. It had the Mercedes “B” service last month. Hope this answers your questions.

@Frederal – As a retired Lexus service manager with over 40 years of automotive service experience I can tell you that many owners understand the importance of service based not only on mileage but also time. Age is another factor to consider of when to perform service, 15,000 miles or one year whichever comes first, if you do not reach the mileage then go by the age. As a prospective buyer there is no downside to considering vehicles that have had maintenance in excess if there is such a thing, I would certainly gravitate towards vehicles like this. ...
Thanks for your comments. Mercedes recommends service on the vehicle at 10,000 miles or one year, whichever occurs first.
