Vehicle Story

This 1965 Ford Mustang coupe is now offered for sale in Seattle Washington after 6 years of ownership by the seller and comes complete with several updates and 121,570 miles on the odometer. Powered by a 289ci V-8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, the car is equipped with the standard bucket seats and heater/defroster as well as optional seat belts and AM radio that has been replaced with a newer AM/FM edition. Recent refreshments were commissioned by the seller with authenticity in mind and include overhauls to the engine, brakes, fuel system, electrical, axles, and suspension. The seller offers 6 years' worth of maintenance records, original documentation, a car cover, and a clean Washington title along with the sale.

Of the 21 color options available in 1965, this example comes finished in a respray of Arcadian Blue (CC: F) accentuated by chrome bumpers, badging and trim pieces. The paintwork appears to be in great condition with the exception of some minor fading and a few small paint chips noted by the seller in common areas around the exterior.

Standard 14" wheels and hub caps come wrapped in a set of whitewall Dean Alpha tires measuring 195/75 with manual steering and fresh 4-wheel manual drum brakes equipped to aid in handling. Suspension and driveline maintenance has all been completed recently with the inclusion of new upper ball joints, rear wheel cylinders, axle seals, pinion seal, and shocks.

Cream white vinyl upholstery covers bench seating, door, and dash panels and is contrasted by a light blue dash pad and matching carpeting with black and stainless components to accent. The car is optioned for an AM/FM radio (replacement), manual cranking windows, and seatbelts and remains relatively true to factory form with the inclusion of the trunk which was refinished by the seller and contains a jack and matching spare tire.

Instrumentation is framed by the correct 3-spoke steering wheel and included dials for coolant temperature as well as a replacement fuel gauge and a 120-MPH horizontally opposed speedometer. The seller has reported 121,570 miles of experience on the odometer. The seller also notes that the dashboard was recently replaced.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels by a 289ci V-8 which is fed by a new gas tank and 2-barrel carburetor while gear changes are performed through a newer, high-performance 4-speed manual transmission. The engine was sourced from a 1967 Mustang and was recently given an overhaul including all new motor mounts with a fresh timing chain, electronic points converter, voltage regulator and freeze plug as well as a new radiator to keep it cool. The car's last service was approximately 6 months ago and no mechanical issues have been reported by the seller.

Additional photos of the undercarriage and the rest of this 1965 Mustang are available for viewing in the gallery.

As part of the trunk restoration, a new scissor jack was added.
