This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was the recipient of a frame-off restoration and is finished in Fathom Green over black vinyl interior. Originally equipped with a 396ci V8, this Chevelle SS is currently powered by a 454ci GM crate engine mated to a Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission. While retaining a mostly stock appearance, it features several performance upgrades in the drive train and braking systems. Originally a Canadian vehicle built by GM of Canada, this Chevelle was equipped with RPO code Z25, indicating it is a true Super Sport. Located in Princeton, British Columbia, this 1969 Chevelle SS is offered for sale on a Canadian registration in the sellers name.
Finished in Fathom Green, the car underwent a full repaint of the original color during its restoration. Black horizontal stripes run the length of the car on both sides, which was an available option for SS models, and "SS 396" badges adorn both fenders and the grill.
Original style Rallye wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich white letter Radial TA tires on all four corners. The braking system performance has been improved through replacing the rear drum units with power discs and a line lock was added. The Chevelles suspension in the front consists of factory stamped controls arms with springs and a sway bar. Power is put to the ground through a 12-bolt rear with an Eaton 3:31 posi-traction differential.
The interior features black vinyl bucket seats complimented by matching door panels and carpets. During the restoration, the interior surfaces were covered in sound deadening material before everything was re-installed. The radio retains a stock look but has been retrofitted with Bluetooth audio streaming and four upgraded speakers. Ancillary gauges are also fitted to the underside of the dash. A center console sits between the bucket seats and houses the horseshoe shifter for the Turbo 400 automatic transmission
Behind the wood-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel sits the gauge cluster that includes a speedometer measuring up to 120-mph, along with a 5-digit analog odometer.
The original 396ci V8 was replaced in 2015 with a 454ci GM crate engine. It is equipped with 427ci Corvette heads, ported and polished Weiand dual-plane intake manifold and 1.73 roller rockers with a cam. Per the seller, the engine has approximately 6k miles on it. The Turbo 400 3-speed transmission features a bolt-on aluminum scatter shield, bell housing, and driveshaft loop. Additionally, it features a Stage 2 shift kit and a 2200 stall torque converter. Headman headers flow into the 2.5" stainless steel dual exhaust, equipped with Flowmaster mufflers.
Undercarriage photos are showcased in the gallery.
