38k-Mile 2004 Chevrolet SSR

This 2004 Chevrolet SSR is an unmodified example of a limited-run retractable-hardtop pickup that has covered 38,307 miles since new and receives power from a 5.3-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. First sold in January 2005 in Ludington, Michigan, this SSR was subsequently relocated to Kentucky and later South Carolina beginning in 2014, having been owned by the seller for the last eight years. Equipment includes running boards, a color-matched tonneau cover, and staggered 19” and 20” cast-aluminum wheels. Finished in Slingshot Yellow over a black leather interior, this first-year SSR is now offered with a CARFAX report with a clear South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The SSR debuted for the model year 2003 as a retractable hardtop pickup, modeled after Chevrolet’s Advance Design era of pickups from the late 1940s and early 1950s. Riding on the GM368 platform, it features a power-retractable hardtop that was built by ASC. Total production was estimated at just over 24,000 vehicles produced before discontinuation following the 2006 model year. This example is painted Slingshot Yellow (79) featuring a color-matched tonneau cover accented by fog lamps, dual exhaust outlets, running boards, and a bright grille. A factory wind deflector has been added for improved top-down airflow dynamics. The seller notes that there is a small chip below the passenger side headlight.

Factory five-spoke 19” front and 20” rear cast-aluminum wheels were wrapped in replacement tires two years ago per the seller. Stopping is assisted by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and a traction-control system.

The upholstery consists of heated and power-adjustable black leather seats with matching door panels, dash, and carpeting, while portions of the interior including the center console are finished in Slingshot Yellow to tie in with the exterior. Standard-issue amenities for the SSR included power windows and door locks, keyless entry, a Bose AM/FM/CD audio system, dual-zone air conditioning, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped, tilt-adjustable steering wheel. The floor mats feature SSR embroidery, and the windows have been tinted. Condition throughout the interior is said to be excellent aside from some slight creasing of the driver seat bottom and bolster consistent with age.

Instrumentation is framed by a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and includes a 140-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer, accompanied by gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer reads 38,307 miles, which is an accurate reading per the seller.

The 5.3-liter Vortec 5300 V8 came with a factory rating of 300 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque when new. An oil service was reportedly performed in late 2020. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The CARFAX report shows no accidents or damage on record.
