This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is the product of a restoration that placed emphasis on factory correct finishes, mechanical equipment, and other attributes, offered from a 16-year collection and powered by a replacement 454ci V8 coupled with a TH400 4-speed automatic transmission. This Chevelle received chrome valve covers, a dual exhaust system, and replacement Firehawk Indy 500 tires as part of the build. Finished in a Cherry Red respray with a black vinyl convertible top over a reupholstered red vinyl interior, this second-generation Chevelle is now offered with a clear Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The midsize Chevelle received a redesign beginning in 1968 that incorporated a streamlined rear deck, a curved beltline, and tapered front fenders. This example is refinished in Cherry Red with dual black accent stripes on the hood and trunk, having been subject to a high-quality restoration that emphasized close attention to finishes, gaps, and straightness. The paint job is contrasted by a replacement black power-operated convertible top, and the front clip features a cowl induction hood with retention pins. Brightwork is said to be in excellent condition for the bumpers, moldings, and trim, with 454 emblems having been affixed to the front fenders.
Factory 14” wheels with polished trim rings and SS-branded center caps are wrapped in replacement Firehawk Indy 500 raised-white-letter tires. This Chevelle is equipped with power steering and power brakes, featuring discs up front and drums in the rear.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered red vinyl seating and matching door panels, carpeting, and dash pad, contrasted by a black bezel for the instruments. Amenities include power windows, a center console with bright accents, SS logos on the door panels and steering wheel, carpeted floor mats, and an AM radio that is not functioning per the seller. The trunk is refinished in correct splatter paint, featuring replacement rubber trim along with the spare tire with associated equipment. The seller adds that there are safety belts in place for the driver and front passenger, and a set of uninstalled belts for the rear seat will be included with the sale. Labels are present where needed for the jambs in factory locations.
Instrumentation is comprised of a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a non-functioning analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 51k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement 454ci V8 features factory labeling on the air cleaner denoting the 360-horsepower original rating, and the engine bay has been dressed with chrome valve covers and jet-coated manifolds. Exhaust is eliminated via a dual exhaust system, and recent maintenance has included an oil change as well as the replacement of the fuel tank, fuel gauge, and battery. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted TH400 4-speed automatic transmission and a positraction rear end.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a set of uninstalled rear seatbelts. The car passed a recent independent inspection and a California safety check within the last 60 days.

@tmd171 – Beautiful car clone or not. My concern is how much of the interior may have been dyed red; the headrests seem to show some black showing through, was the dash pad and console also dyed? Thx, ...
According to the owner the interior was a replacement.
