This 2001 BMW 740iL is a one-owner flagship sedan that was purchased new by the seller in Germany and has spent its life in Florida since its initial import to the United States in May 2001. Accruing 96k miles since, the car’s full mechanical condition was recently sorted with $12,000 in services including refurbishment to the suspension, air conditioning system, filters, and other vehicle systems. Powered by an M62 4.4-liter V8 coupled with a 5-speed automatic transmission, this example boasts a $2,800 Sport package with Shadowline trim, M-Parallel wheels, and Vavona Redwood interior trim. Finished in Royal Red Metallic over a black leather interior, this E38 740iL is now offered with a CARFAX report with service documentation since new and with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
The third-generation 7-Series launched in 1994 as BMW’s flagship in both standard and long-wheelbase form, and for the final model year in 2001 received body-colored side skirts and clear turn signal lenses. This example from the final model year of the series is configured in long-wheelbase form with expanded rear passenger quarters as compared to traditional models. The body is coated in Royal Red Metallic (390) and equipment includes bi-Xenon headlights, fog lamps, and side marker lenses, and a $2,800 optional Sport package. This 740iL has reportedly been garage-kept since its initial import from Europe in 2001 by the seller, and although subsequent paintwork was performed on some panels, the finishes and match are said to be excellent throughout.
Factory 18” aluminum M-Parallel wheels are wrapped in staggered-width tires, with 255/45-series in the rear and 235/50-series up front. Suspension underpinnings are comprised of a double-pivot, strut-type front end with forged aluminum lower control arms, with a four-link independent rear. Anti-roll bars are equipped both front and rear, and the Sport package brings ride height down by almost 1” up front while providing firmer front and rear shocks than the traditional 7-Series. A Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system provides traction aid and controls function of the four-wheel disc braking system.
The interior is trimmed in all-black for the heated and power-adjustable leather front bucket seats, color-matched to the door panels, center console, dash, and carpeting. Glossy redwood trim surrounds the cabin and adorns the shift knob, and power convenience options are present throughout, including windows, door locks, mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a navigation system, memory seats, and more. The seller has provided some specific aspects of the interior with flaws, including a noise from the driver seat when sliding back, a broken rear ashtray, an intermittent glitch with the radio screen, and the fact that the sunshade and sunroof do not always close in unison.
Instrumentation includes a 155-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, MPG readout, and bordering gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 96k miles, which is a true original reading per the seller.
The M62 4.4-liter V8 is original to the vehicle and was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque when new. A comprehensive $12k maintenance expenditure in the last 15 months reportedly covered a number of vehicle systems, including suspension, engine, filters, air conditioning, and exterior moldings. The valve cover gasket, air thermostat, spark plugs, and engine clutch fan were replaced by a Pompano Beach, Florida specialty BMW facility in September 2020 per the CARFAX report. The seller notes a new battery was installed on June 21, 20201 and a oil change was done approximately 1,000 miles ago. The radio and navigation assembly were also replaced in 2020 per the seller. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a ZF 5HP 5-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.
The CARFAX report shows two incidents on record. A 2021 record was related to a low-speed parking lot incident, and the 2006 record refers to a hood repaint after the nose of the car sustained damage from a gravel truck. There was no accident at the time. The sale includes service records back to new.

@Samoyed81 – Thanks. That's a common issue with that era vehicles and is not a deal killer. I'll keep bidding.. ...
BavTek in Texas can knock the screen repairs out easy, i think it runs about $150 but they've turned most of mine around in a matter of days. I use them for all my E38/E39's with the screen issue rather than trying to take it on myself

@Samoyed81 – Does the dashboard information system suffer from "depixellation" and if so, to what degree? ...
why is passenger side wood grain lighter then driver side?-have no idea-no wood grain ever changed-sun exposure?-always garaged, so no. A DIY job with total cost under $100 I bet! As to running condition & battery: starts, runs, control. outstanding 'cause of owner proactivity-new battery 6/21/21. Less then 1k miles last oil service. Depixilazation on monitoy: est 12-15%. Plan to maybe replace monitor ref EBAY-est cost $200-250

Why is the dashboard on the front passenger side different from the wood grained dash on the front driver’s side?
Question, does it run and drive, no slippage or hard starting with motor or transmission and does it have a good battery
@teddy65 – Thank you for asking, I would say slight pixelization. If I was to give it a percentage it would be 10-15% ...
