Vehicle Story

This 1997 Chevrolet Camaro SS marks Camaro's 30th anniversary and is also one of 124 Street Legal Performance Engineering (SLP) upgraded red T-top models produced for North America in 1997 and SLP build number 1082. The car was purchased from a collector in 2019 at the Cape Coral Annual Charity Car Show with 29,750 miles of experience and shows just over 32,000 miles on the odometer today. Powered by a sequential fuel-injected 310hp 350ci V-8 paired with an automatic transmission, the car is equipped with top SLP enhancements as well as air conditioning, leather interior, power windows, locks and seats, power steering and braking, keyless entry, and the Bose/Delco sound system with cassette and CD. Located with the seller's collection in Springfield, Ohio, a clean Carfax report and title are offered with the sale along with documentation detailing options and authenticity.

Finished in Bright Red, the car sports black "SS" accents and is optioned with dark window tinting, fog lights, removable glass T-tops with sunscreens, raised rear deck spoiler, and a scooped hood for the performance air induction system. An additional $6,894 was added to the price tag for an SLP Camaro SS in 1997 and this example is tagged with placards under the hood and in the driver's side door jam as shown in the gallery. The seller notes a small dent located on the lower passenger side quarter panel shown in photos but otherwise describes the car to be clean, garage kept, and never driven in undesirable conditions.

Wheels are 17”x 9” aluminum alloys wrapped in a set of 3-year old BF Goodrich G-Force Sport COMP P275/40ZR17 tires which have been driven approximately 10,000 miles since new in late 2016. SLP's enhanced suspension components include a large diameter front sway bar and stage-2 Bilstein dampers while power steering and power braking through 4-wheel discs complete the handing package.

The interior is optioned for charcoal leather upholstery over the steering wheel and 6-way power-adjustable bucket seating along with power windows, locks and mirrors, keyless entry, air conditioning, "Camaro SS" embroidered floor mats , and Bose/Delco sound system with cassette and CD player.

Instrumentation is comprised of a 155-MPH speedometer and 7,000-RPM tachometer along with dials for fuel level, battery voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. Odometer miles are accurate and read 32,190 at the time the photo was taken.

Finished in body-matching red, the engine bay is home to a 350ci LT1 V-8 equipped with sequential fuel injection and SLP upgrades including a performance cold air intake system, high flow AC filter, and the performance oil cooler package. Shifting is done automatically through 4-speeds with overdrive and the drivetrain is said to perform properly without any reported leaks after its last service which included a fluid change approximately two months ago.

The underside of the car features SLP's stainless steel performance exhaust system with 3-inch piping through Power-Flo mufflers from the catalytic converters to the rear as well as the optionally equipped Torsen limited-slip rear end.

Additional photos of this 1997 SLP Camaro can be found in the gallery along with a video of the car posted below.
