This 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible has reportedly covered 30,860 miles since new and comes from 20-year ownership with amenities including air conditioning, rosewood interior trim, and custom graphics. The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four is mated to a 4-speed manual transaxle and is said to run and drive well. Finished in yellow with a black cloth top over a tan vinyl interior, this Super Beetle is now offered with a front nose mask, a car cover, service records, an owner’s manual, and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.
The 1979 model year was the last for U.S. and Canada markets, and this example received a repaint in its original yellow color over a clean, rust-free exterior. The black cloth retractable top is said to be original, and other exterior trim includes chrome bumpers with rub strips and custom ‘Honey Bug’ graphics applied to the rear fenders. All finishes are said to be in good condition thanks to indoor climate-controlled storage throughout the seller’s 20-year ownership.
The 15” painted steel wheels are in good condition. The car retains the factory style suspension and braking systems.
The interior is set up with tan vinyl upholstery for the front buckets with matching door panels, a contrasting black dash, and black carpeting. The dash and shift knob are accented in rosewood trim, and other amenities include air conditioning, a modern stereo system, and a floor-mounted console with cup holders.
Instrumentation is framed by a four-spoke steering wheel with a center Wolfsburg crest and includes a VDO 85-mph speedometer with an inset fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 30,860 miles which is reported to be an actual reading per the seller.
The air-cooled fuel-injected 1,600cc flat-four was factory rated at 48 horsepower and transfers power to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transaxle.
Photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes a black nose mask, a car cover, maintenance receipts, the owner’s manual, and maintenance records.

@WGLIDE83 – Thank you,,, ...
Anytime, if there is anything else you need please let me know.
@MonteA – The paint is excellent. I would say a 9+ knowing that nothing is perfect. If I had not talked to the first and only other owner I would have thought it was original paint. The windshield gasket was either removed or replaced new. I think the only reason he repainted it was because he owned a paint and body shop. It is obvious that this car has never spent any time outdoors. ...
Thank you,,,
