Vehicle Story

This 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 4x4 was the recipient of a frame-off restoration and is finished in red over a black vinyl interior. Power comes from a Chevrolet 350ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission.  Equipment includes four-wheel drive, off-road tires, auxiliary lighting, and off-road bumper with a winch installed.  This FJ is now offered with a clean Nebraska title in the seller’s name.

The truck is finished in Safari Red and equipped with removable black canvas doors and a tan canvas top.  Having undergone a frame-off restoration, equipment includes a new black ARB front bumper with a vintage Warn winch and two Hella off-road lights.

The 15” aluminum wheels are fitted to BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires that measure 33 x 12.50 with a full-size spare is mounted to the rear.  Braking performance has been upgraded with power disc brakes on all four corners and a suspension lift was installed for increased ground clearance.

The interior features front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl and two fold-down jumpseats in the rear. The floor is covered by a black rubberized mat and a locking center console with padded armrest was mounted between the front seats. Shifters for the automatic transmission and transfer case are located on the floor.  Safety features include 3 point seatbelts for the front passengers and a roll bar mounted just behind the seats.

The restored dash houses the instrumentation and includes a centrally displayed 100-mph speedometer, along with oil, fuel, temperature, and amp gauges along the bottom of the cluster.  There are 24k miles on the rebuilt drivetrain, of which about 2k miles have been added by the seller over four years of ownership. The original radio is in place with speakers mounted in the rear, the seller notes the radio will occasionally turn off mid-use.

The factory inline-6 engine has been replaced with a Chevrolet 350ci V8 and was rebuilt approximately 24k miles ago. Equipment includes an Edelbrock intake manifold, carburetor, and air cleaner, chrome valve covers, and power steering. The automatic transmission was rebuilt and the seller has a record of some maintenance history including a reseal of the head gasket in August 2020.
