This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible is an early-production car that was restored in 2014 and is powered by a partially rebuilt 289ci V8 paired with a rebuilt C4 3-speed automatic transmission. Along with a resprayed finish in Rangoon Red, this convertible received a replacement soft top, interior refurbishment, disc brakes, refreshed suspension, and replacement exhaust. Finished with a black vinyl interior, this Mustang is now offered with repair receipts and a clear Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
This early-build 1965 Mustang was the recipient of a restoration in 2014 involving a repaint in Rangoon Red (J) and replacement of the power-operated, white cloth retractable top. Brightwork includes front and rear bumpers, window surrounds, door handles, rocker panel moldings, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, and polished exhaust outlets beneath the rear bumper. Fender-mounted 289 emblems denote the car’s powerplant.
The 14” steel wheels have full covers and are wrapped in blackwall tires. Stopping power comes from a disc brake upgrade and the seller reports that the suspension has been redone.
The interior is upholstered with low-back black vinyl bucket seats and matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. A full-length center console extends from the dash to the rear seat, and the cabin is accented in woodgrain trim for the dash face, console, and steering wheel rim. A push-button radio is installed in the dash, and the transmission is shifted via a chrome-finished T-handle shift lever.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer along with gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 76k miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.
The 289ci V8 underwent a partial rebuild per the seller, and it sends power to the rear wheels via a rebuilt C4 3-speed automatic transmission. The seller also reports that the exhaust system has been replaced.
Receipts for the work performed will go with the car.
