Vehicle Story

This 1982 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Mark I is a long-wheelbase four-door sedan that has covered 43,700 miles and features amenities including burled woodgrain, power convenience options, and automatic climate control. The L410 6.75-liter V8 went through a major service in November 2020 which involved maintenance to multiple systems including the Bosch fuel injection, spark plugs, and emissions-control equipment. Power is fed to the rear through a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission. This Silver Spur originated in Illinois and was relocated to Arizona in 2011, then California in early 2019 where it has resided since, having reportedly been garage-kept under the seller’s ownership. Finished in dark gray over a gray leather interior, this Silver Spur is now offered with a clean CARFAX report, a service book, an owner’s manual, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

The Silver Spur is a long-wheelbase version of Rolls Royce’s Silver Spirit flagship sedan, produced between 1980 and 2000. This example from 1982 is finished in dark gray and has undergone minor paintwork that shows well according to the seller. The grille features the Rolls-Royce signature “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament, and additional accenting brightwork is shown for the bumpers, side view mirrors, door handles, and dual polished exhaust outlets at the rear.

Steel 15” wheels with Rolls-Royce branded hubcaps are wrapped in blackwall tires. The suspension is comprised of hydropneumatic self-leveling components and gas-charged shock absorbers, and stopping power comes from four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes.

The interior is furnished with power-adjustable gray leather seats and matching door panels, center console, dash, and carpeting, while the dash face is accented in burled woodgrain. Amenities include automatic climate control, power windows, power door locks, and more. Per the seller’s report, the aftermarket stereo is not working, and the passenger side windows do not work.

Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer and accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 43,700 miles, which the seller states is an actual reading.

The 6.75-liter L410 V8 is naturally aspirated and features Bosch fuel injection. According to the CARFAX report, a comprehensive mechanical refurbishment was carried out in November 2020 which included service to the fuel injection system, oxygen sensors, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, window switch, emissions system, and an oil and filter change. Additionally, the transmission fluid was changed in December 2019. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a GM-sourced TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.

The CARFAX report shows no accidents or damage on record, with the first record on file dating back to January 1986. The vehicle consistently passed emissions inspections throughout its lifetime, including the most recent California inspection in November 2020. The sale includes a service book and an owner’s manual.

Hi Miguel It is with great reluctance I must retire from this auction. As you will realise I am bidding from New Zealand and our entire country has gone into Covid delta variant Lockdown, This means banking transactions are now impossible for the next week at the earliest thus preventing me from continuing to bid. I would have stayed the course for your vehicle but unfortunately this is now impossible. May I wish you great success in selling the Rolls Royce . Kind regards Flying Kiwi.

@Miguel82 – Hi flyingkiwi The car works great, I drive it every weekend with no problem. Engine wise I would say it is in great condition. The tires were replaced around one year ago. Of course it has its issues, like the surface cracking, after all it is a 39 year old car. As it is mentioned on the description the radio does not work, but I think it’s just disconnected. Another thing is that the A/C needs cooling gas, it works but it doesn’t cools the air. ...

Thanks Miguel Your response is much appreciated . Flying Kiwi.
