Vehicle Story

This 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Woody Resto-Mod was built from the ground up and retains the original wood and body panels. Finished in navy blue over a caramel leather interior with a navy blue fabric roof, it is powered by a 2019 GM Gen V LT1 6.2-liter crate engine paired to a GM 4-speed automatic transmission. This Ford has been owned by the seller for approximately six years and is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. This Woody Resto-Mod is offered with a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.

The car was painted approximately ten years ago. The Super Deluxe features a navy blue cloth roof and the original “woody" wood trim on the doors, rear quarter panels, and rear tailgate. All the correct chrome and trim pieces are present and the only modification is a set of "blue-dot" taillights mounted to the rear. The seller states all the wood pieces on the body are original to the vehicle and in good condition with no cracking, splitting, or dry rot. Additionally, all glass pieces are said to be original as well including the 2-piece angled windshield.

This 1948 Ford is equipped with a set of steel wheels trimmed with polished beauty rings and hubcaps, wrapped with Diamondback radial whitewall tires. The “Woody” lettering in their center of each hubcap was painted red for contrast. Stopping power is provided by 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes

The interior is fitted with navy blue carpeting and 6-way power-adjustable caramel leather bucket seats. Matching buckets with lap belts were installed in the second row to match. A custom center console between the front buckets houses the controls for the power seats and pull out cup holders for the rear passengers. The original radio was retained in the factory location, though the seller indicates a hidden, modern stereo setup is installed and supports Bluetooth connectivity. The cowl vent is power-operated.

Instrumentation is anchored by a 140-mph speedometer, with smaller gauges indicating fuel level, oil pressure, battery voltage, and engine temperature. A clock is present on the passenger side of the dashboard. The seller claims all gauges are new from Classic. The six-digit odometer indicates 300 miles, though the gauges were replaced and true mileage is unknown. The seller has added approximately 2.5k miles to the car in their six years of ownership. The steering column features tilt adjust-ability and a 3-spoke chrome Banjo steering wheel with wood rim was added.

The original Ford V8 was removed and replaced with a 2019 General Motors LT1 crate engine. The LT1 was introduced on the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and was made available for purchase separately by GM. The LT1 is connected to a General Motors 4L75-E four-speed automatic transmission. The seller claims this 1948 Ford has produced 480 rear wheel horsepower in dyno testing. An original style Ford air cleaner was modified to sit atop the engine as well as a custom "Ford" script painted on the valve covers. A billet accessory was added to house the power steering pump, alternator, and A/C compressor.

Custom axles and a Currie 9” rear end are fitted to the chassis. The majority of the original chassis is retained, with numerous modifications made to increase strength and performance, as well as accommodate suspension improvements. The front suspension features a fully boxed cradle with tubular control arms, a large-diameter sway bar, and a steering rack.  The seller has extensive records for the work performed to this 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Woody Resto-Mod and has owned it for six years.

Included with the sale is a surfboard pictured above as well as a binder with receipts and documentation of the restoration. Located in Scottsdale, AZ this 1948 Ford Woody is offered for sale on a clean Washington State title in the sellers name

AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE  9/14/20 12:20PM PST: The seller has noted the interior also has the following features: power windows, power steering, interior lights that turn on when the door is open, USB ports for charging electronic devices, and air conditioning

Wow! Impressive machine. Looks like some serious hours were put into this build. Would love to see how this thing drives with 480 horses to the rear wheels. Sounds like this thing would be a blast. I really like the wood against the navy blue paint, great combo. GLWA!
