Vehicle Story

This 1967 Ford Mustang convertible was acquired by the seller 27 years ago from an estate sale with approximately 20,000 miles on the odometer and has added just over 3,000 more in the ensuing three decades. Power comes from a 289ci V8 while shifting is performed via an automatic transmission. Equipment includes optional power front disc brakes, power steering, and an AM/FM radio. Refreshments completed by the seller over the course of ownership include the installation of a new battery, carburetor, radiator, water pump, and exhaust system. This first-generation Mustang convertible is offered with a clear British Columbia registration.

Of the 44,808 convertibles produced in 1967, 20 paint color options were offered from the factory. This example was originally finished in Wimbledon White (M) before a respray in Silver Frost (4) was performed under prior ownership over 27 years ago. The car has been garaged and the paint is reported to show well as does the black convertible top and chrome trim.

The 108-inch wheelbase car rides on the correct 14-inch wheels with Mustang branded center caps which are wrapped in 205/70 Michelin X Radial Plus tires. Steering and braking systems are both power-assisted with optional disc brakes equipped on the front.

Finished in red throughout, bucket seating straddles an automatic shifter and is covered in vinyl upholstery showing no obvious signs of distress, and the original red carpeting covers the floor. The optional AM/FM radio is confirmed to be in working condition along with the heater/defroster and red lap belts.

Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and battery voltage. The analog clock is reported to be nonfunctional. The odometer displays 23,378 miles which the seller believes to be original.

The engine bay is finished in black and home to a 289ci V8 which is mated to an automatic transmission, both of which are correct for the car as decoded by the VIN. The carburetor was replaced approximately three weeks ago in preparation for the sale and previous work performed during the seller's ownership included replacement of the radiator, water pump, and battery.

The seller reports the vehicle has been driven in rain only once and notes that the underside shows well. A new dual exhaust system has been installed.

@MustangSammy – Hi Robbie - Have you ever had a Marti report done on this vehicle? And to be clear.... the interior is all original? Door panels, seats, carpet, dash board, and all interior trim all original? There has been no body work done other than 1 paint job over 27 years ago? I appreciate your prompt answer as it will affect how i bid. If possible it would be helpful to have a conversation with you, call if you are willing... Thank you! Bill Brandt 612-366-7647 ...

Bill forgot to mention, to get collectors license plates in British Columbia the car has to be original, no modifications, no chrome air cleaners etc. The only thing that can be added is if it was an option that year. Your only allowed a 1/2” tear in the upholstery. Hoping this helps as well.

Tried to phone you Bill. Answers to your question , no I did not have a Marti ( found out from Autohunter what that was) what you see is the way I bought the car in 1994. The interior was as is, if changed I do not know, that is the paint job on the car when I bought it. The only things I changed were mechanical-exhaust,carb,rad,brake booster, tires, battery and a few other small items under the hood. The car has only seen rain once in the 27 year and that was the year I bought it and hit rain taking the car home. As I mentioned before the car is on jack stands 7 to 8 months a year. Hopefully this helps you out. Rob
