This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu two-door hardtop is equipped with Super Sport equipment and was the recipient of an inside-and-out restoration that included the installation of a reupholstered interior, a center console, and a polished-outlet dual exhaust system. Under the hood resides a 402ci V8 in a fully detailed engine bay, sending power to the rear by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in Green Metallic with white accent stripes over a reupholstered black vinyl interior, this Chevelle is now offered with a car cover and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The midsized Chevelle was produced through three generations starting in 1964 on the General Motors A-body platform. This example from the final year of the second generation comes configured in a two-door hardtop body style, and the exterior was the recipient of a respray in Green Metallic with dual white stripes on the hood and trunk lid. Brightwork surrounding the perimeter includes the bumpers, headlight bezels, hood pins, window surrounds, and dual exhaust outlets at the rear. Super Sport badging is affixed to the grille, front fenders, and center of the rear bumper in the factory locations.
Five-spoke 15” wheels with Chevrolet bowtie center caps and polished lips are wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.
The interior offers reupholstered black vinyl fold-forward bucket seats split by a center console with stainless-steel accents. The door panels with SS logos, dash, and carpeting are finished in matching materials. Additional optioning includes air conditioning, a radio, and a cue-ball style shift knob. The trunk is lined with a mat and contains a spare tire.
Instrumentation is provided by factory gauges for the 120-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and analog clock, along with readouts for fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature. Additionally, dual aftermarket gauges have been added below the dash for coolant temperature and oil pressure, while a Sport-Comp 8k-rpm tachometer is mounted at the top of the console. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 13k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown. The seller states the original OEM style AC unit was installed.
Power is provided by a 396ci block bored .030 over to 402ci and was professionally built by Baker engineering in 2012. The 402ci V8 wears a chrome-finished air cleaner with 402 decals and is mounted within a matte-black engine bay. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission and a console-mounted shift lever.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a car cover.

@Carwash – I understand you acquire this car, but the seller you got it form did not give you the full run down before YOU purchaser the car. They tell you who restore it, painted, motor nothing. ...
The person that owns the car currently (we are consigning it for them ) said that the motor was done at Baker engineering which we have photos of that at the end. The owner didn't have the restoration work done under their ownership, they bought the car from previous owner as it was already restored. If you look at all the photos you can see that they did a really good job. "GLWTB" Good luck with the bidding!
BID: $33,000
@garagekeptmotors – We acquired the car the way it is, we didn't restore it. The panels all look good and solid, paint is in great shape. We don't have a build sheet or an original window sticker to prove that it's a true SS. ...
