No Reserve: 1971 Volkswagen Beetle

This 1971 Volkswagen Beetle coupe received a full repaint in 2017 and comes with reupholstered seating and replacement front and rear bumpers. The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four has received comprehensive recent maintenance including replacement of the oil and filter, starter, spark plugs, ignition system, and carburetor within the last few months, and power is driven to the rear wheels by way of a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transaxle. Finished in orange over a reupholstered black vinyl and cloth interior, this Beetle is now offered with an uninstalled chrome exhaust, service records, and a clear North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

This Beetle was repainted in its original orange color in 2017 and received replacement chrome front and rear bumpers at the same time. The seller states that the chassis, frame, and floor pans are solid, and all electronics including wipers, brake lamps, and headlights are in good operational condition. Exterior accents include fender-mounted turn signals, bright headlight rings, chrome window visors, stainless-steel side moldings, and a dual exhaust outlet at the rear.

Steel 15” wheels with polished VW-branded center caps are mounted to replacement whitewall tires with good tread life remaining. The seller notes the four-wheel drum braking system was overhauled within the last two months.

The interior is trimmed in all-black with replacement vinyl and cloth composite high-back bucket upholstery, along with matching dash, and carpeting, and door panels with an elastic map pocket at the driver side. Features include wing windows and a radio.

Instrumentation includes a 90-mph VDO speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 52k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,600cc flat-four received an oil change in June 2021 and a replacement starter, generator, points, ignition system, spark plugs, and spark plug wires within the last two months. Additionally, the valve cover gaskets and condenser have been replaced, and the carburetor was rebuilt. There are no current mechanical needs outstanding per the seller. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transaxle.
