This 2001 Chevrolet Corvette coupe bears high-performance Z06 equipment and has covered 68,356 miles since new, powered by an LS6 5.7-liter V8 paired with a T56 6-speed manual transaxle. This Corvette was first sold in Albuquerque, New Mexico in June of its model year and subsequently relocated to Wisconsin in 2005 where it remained until 2021. The seller states that it is one of 1,623 produced for its model year with Z06 packaging and a Torch Red exterior finish. Equipped with a Black leather interior, this C5 Corvette is now offered with a CARFAX report with a Illinois title.
This C5 Corvette example from 2001 was assembled as a high-performance Z06 variant with trim code 1YY37, retaining its original Torch Red (70) exterior color and featuring a fixed hardtop. Exterior aerodynamics include mesh grille inserts, pop-up headlamps, vented front fenders, color-matched side view mirrors, and a polished-outlet quad exhaust system at the rear.
Factory lightweight graphite-finished aluminum wheels are installed with a staggered fitment, using 17” units up front and 18” in the rear. The braking system is comprised of four-wheel disc brakes with red-finished calipers and anti-lock stopping. The suspension has active handling, brought in by equipment identified with the codes ISA and FE4 for special ride and handling.
The interior is trimmed in Black (191) throughout, offering power-operated dual bucket seats and color-matched materials for the center console, door panels, dash, and carpeting. The headrests feature Z06 branding, and aluminum pedal covers are fitted in the footwells. Additional cabin equipment includes power windows, power door locks, and power mirrors, a rear defroster, cruise control, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The stereo system is a factory Delco AM/FM/CD head unit, and safety content is provided courtesy of dual front airbags.
Instrumentation is framed by a leather-wrapped steering wheel and features a 200-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer, surrounded by readouts for voltage, fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 68,356 miles which is an actual reading per the seller.
The LS6 5.7-liter V8 boasted a revised intake manifold as compared to other LS engines and carried factory ratings of 385 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque when new. This C5’s powerplant received maintenance in September 2020 per the CARFAX report in the form of an oil and filter change and a check of the air filter, fluids, and tire condition. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted T56 6-speed manual transaxle with a console-mounted shift lever, and the rear axle has a 3.42 gear ratio.
The CARFAX report mentions minor damage to the front in August 2018 which the seller reports involved damage to the front bumper.
