This 1970 Ford Mustang two-door fastback is documented with a numbers-matching rebuilt 302ci V8 that has been balanced, ported, polished, and modified with an Eagle stroker kit to 347ci and carries a host of other performance upgrades including a Holley carburetor, MSD ignition components, a Comp camshaft, and much more. A Hurst T-handle shift lever provides input to the 4-speed manual transmission with a 2.79 ratio, and reupholstered bucket seats and a wood-rimmed steering wheel are featured inside the cabin. Finished in Candy Apple Red over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with service records, spare parts, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
This Mustang is configured in a fastback body style, denoted by a 63A identification on the trim tag. A restoration was carried out that encompassed every aspect of the vehicle, starting with a respray in Candy Apple Red which is said to display excellent-condition gloss and optimal panel fitment throughout. Exterior equipment includes factory-spec brightwork, black-finished front, and rear spoilers, and a Flowmaster dual cat-back exhaust system at the rear.
Magnum 500 14” wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires all the way around, and stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes upfront. The steering system has been upgraded with a Total Control Products rack and pinion kit.
The interior is trimmed in all-black, offering reupholstered black vinyl seats and matching materials for the door panels, dash, and carpeting. The shifter is a Hurst T-handle, and a Sport Deck fold-down rear seat is equipped. Additional amenities include a passenger seat map light, a trunk light, and an AM/FM radio, although the seller mentions that a modern Bluetooth radio is also included with the sale.
Instrumentation is provided by factory gauges including a 120-mph speedometer and surrounding gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 12k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown. The seller states that there have been approximately 1,200 miles added to the body and drivetrain since restoration.
The numbers-matching F-code 302ci V8 has been stroked to 347ci using an Eagle stroker kit with ESP, having been rebuilt in 2018 and producing 10:1 compression. The engine bay is accented in a chrome dress-up kit with Cobra-branded valve covers, and the upgrades incorporated with this engine work are numerous. Among the key highlights are a Holley 650-Cfm double-pumper carburetor, a Holley dual-plane intake manifold, aluminized headers, a Comp camshaft, lifters, rocker arms, and pushrods, Crane valve springs, retainers, locks and stem seals, bronze valve guides, sealed power intake valves, ARP main studs, milled cylinder heads, a Cloyes timing chain set, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, an MSD Blaster 2 ignition coil, and Griffin aluminum radiator. The clutch was upgraded in 2020 to a McLeod Super Street Pro unit. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission with a 2.78 gear ratio.
