Vehicle Story

This 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 is a left-hand-drive example imported from Italy in 2019, where it was used on an olive farm, and subsequently professionally refurbished. Powered by a 2.5L turbo-diesel inline-4 paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and 2-speed transfer case with a locking center differential, the truck is equipped with power steering and brakes, a brush guard, wing top protection, LED headlamps, new BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM3 tires over Wolf wheels, and more. Finished in dark green with a white hardtop, this Defender 90 is offered with a new battery, rear side glass, and door seals as well as current Connecticut registration in the seller's name.

Finished in dark green with a white hardtop, the body is reported to be in good condition with good panel fitment and no notable signs of damage. Features include cowl vents, a spare tire mount on the bonnet, wing-top diamond plate protection, upgraded LED headlamps, a front brush guard, black fender flares, and a rear door-mounted tire carrier with a full-size spare. The seller reports that new rear side glass has been installed.

Power steering and power brakes are standard equipment and the truck rides on 16-inch black steel Wolf wheels wrapped in a new set of 295/75 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. Suspension systems were updated for this generation with the inclusion of coil-sprung front and rear solid axles in place of traditional leaf springs.

The interior is trimmed with three-across black vinyl bucket seats up front, an open rear tub with rubber load mat, and diamond plate protection on the rear door. The seller reports that new door seals have been added. Pictures in the photo carousel to the right show that there is no headliner or rear seating.

Standard instrumentation for the model year includes a 110-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, and ventilation can be controlled by way of dual cowl vents. The 6-digit odometer is reported to show approximately 196K kilometers (~122K miles), a number the seller reports is true to the vehicle.

Power comes from a 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 rated at 86 horsepower from the factory, which is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and 2-speed transfer case with a locking center differential. All fluids and belts were replaced during an October 2020 service along with a full inspection to confirm all systems were in working order. Per the seller, the truck also benefits from a new battery and fresh service.

Additional photos showing the condition of the underside are available in the gallery.
