Vehicle Story

This 1937 Ford two-door coupe is a magazine-featured street rod with a chopped fiberglass body that has been driven 6,405 miles since assembly in 2012. The coupe was completed to show-level quality standards by Premier Street Rods in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and is propelled by a Chevrolet LS1 350ci V8 paired with a 4L60-E 4-speed automatic transmission. Modern conveniences and upgrades consist of power windows, air conditioning, Wilwood disc brakes, ISS bucket seats, and a Sony CD stereo. Finished in Quick Silver Metallic with burgundy striping over a black leather interior, this custom coupe is now offered with magazines that featured the car and a clear Arizona title in the seller’s name.

This kit-based two-door coupe starts out with a 1937 Ford fiberglass body from OZE that has been painted Quick Silver Metallic and accented by maroon side stripes. The build was completed by Premier Hot Rods in 2012 and custom body treatment includes shaved door handles, a polished aluminum fabricated wrap-around grille, rear-hinged doors, 7” headlights with LED turn signals, Hagan flush-mount slim vertical taillights, and dual polished exhaust outlets.

American Racing Torque Thrust II five-spoke wheels are arranged in staggered fitment with 18” up front and 20” in the rear, and these are shod in Toyo tires with good tread life remaining. This hot rod rides on an OZE frame and features a four-link rear end, a tubular independent front suspension, and air bags all around. Braking is handled by Wilwood both front and rear, with ventilated calipers and a power brake booster. Steering is power-assisted with Flaming River linkage.

The interior is trimmed in monochromatic black, fitted with leather ISS bucket seats, a padded dash face, and a center console. A modern Sony AM/FM/CD head unit is connected to Pioneer speakers in the kick panels, and additional amenities include power windows, a Flaming River tilt-adjustable steering wheel with a Billet Specialties wheel, a Lokar shift knob, and air conditioning. The window motors and trunk lift motor have been replaced recently per the seller.

Instrumentation is delivered via analog HDX Series gauges from Dakota Digital, offering a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The odometer reads 6,405 miles, which reflects mileage driven since completion of the build.

A side-hinged hood opens up to the Chevrolet Corvette-sourced 350ci LS1 V8 which uses a custom wiring harness. Fuel is fed to the motor from a 22-gallon stainless-steel tank, and cooling is provided by a four-row custom aluminum radiator. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed 4L60-E automatic transmission and a 9” rear end with 3.73 gearing.

The sale includes issues of Kit Car Builders and The World of Rods, both of which featured this particular car. The seller has provided a cold start video for viewing below.

@Remington – Car has nothing that needs to be addressed. No over heating or any leaks. Braking is straight and even. Never in any accident. No under carriage photos and cannot get them. Car is to low to the ground to take any. ...

Can it be put on a lift to reveal the undercarriage.

@Redman – What year is the engine? Any modifications to the engine? Thanks ...

Not sure what year the engine is however I do know it has been in the car for about 10 years. It is an LS one and sounds to be stock. Car runs down the road at 7075 very easily
