Vehicle Story

This 1960 Ford Thunderbird is a rust-free two-door hardtop powered by a 352ci V8 paired with a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. This T-Bird has been family-owned since 2013 and offers conveniences including disc brakes, power windows, and a center console. Finished in Aquamarine over a two-tone turquoise vinyl interior, this second-generation Thunderbird is now offered with service records, documentation, spare parts, a shop manual, and a clear Virginia title in the seller’s name.

First launching in 1955 as a personal luxury car, the two-seater Thunderbird went on to be offered in a wide variety of body styles in the subsequent decades. In 1958, a second generation rolled out that offered additional passenger space, a restyled body, and design features such as quad headlights, pronounced tailfins, and triple-lens taillights for 1960. This Thunderbird from that model year was restored and repainted in 2006 in its original Aquamarine (C) hue. The rust-free body is accented by chrome brightwork for the bumpers, window surrounds, sideview mirrors, badging, and a trunk-mounted antenna, while dual exhaust outlets are tucked beneath the rear bumper.

Late-model 16” Lincoln machined aluminum wheels are wrapped in 235/65 Firestone blackwall tires. Replacement power-assisted disc brakes were installed in summer 2021, and handling is assisted by power steering.

The interior is fitted with reupholstered two-tone bucket seats in light and dark turquoise, split by a center console in the darker shade. The door panels, dash, and carpeting are finished in matching materials and amenities include power windows, power seats, and a vinyl trunk mat with a spare tire.

Instrumentation is set within a bright ribbed bezel and includes a 140-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature. The seller notes that the speedometer does not work. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 3,852 miles which the seller believes to be 103k actual miles.

The 352ci V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 300 horsepower and 381 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is transferred to the rear via a column-shifted 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.

The sale includes service records, documentation, a shop manual, and spare parts as shown in the photo carousel.
