This one-owner 1986 BMW 528e is finished in blue over a blue interior. Power is derived from a 2.7-liter inline-6 and transferred to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. It has received extensive maintenance within the past 50k miles, including a new timing belt, water pump, radiator, fuel pump, shift linkage, ignition, drive belts, shocks, HVAC motor, and more. Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, this E28 is offered with a clear Arizona title in the seller's name and service records from new.
The body was professionally repainted in blue in 2010, and new bumper and door handle trim was added in 2018. Fog lights are fitted to the front impact bumper, and the black grille is in good condition, as are the chrome "kidney" center grilles. Additional brightwork includes polished window trim and taillight bezels, while the mirrors caps are matte black.
The factory 14" bottle cap wheels received new center caps in early 2018. All four tires were replaced with 195/70 Goodyear Assurance rubber in 2015. Included maintenance records show that new disc brakes were installed at 270k miles.
The interior is trimmed in Pacific Blue leather with color-matching floor mats and dash pad. Factory equipment includes power windows and locks, a metal sliding sunroof, air conditioning, and a wood-grain shift knob. The HVAC motor was replaced at approximately 276k miles. Photos show apparent cracking on the outer portion of the driver-side headrest and sagging of the seatback storage pockets. An aftermarket Pioneer Bluetooth head unit was installed in 2017, and the complete factory tool kit is present underneath the trunk lid.
Instrumentation is framed by the factory 4-spoke wheel and includes a 140mph speedometer, tachometer, and readouts for fuel level and coolant temperature. The odometer shows roughly 288k miles and records indicate that a repair was performed in 2008. The CARFAX report indicates a potential odometer rollback in 2012; true mileage is unknown.
The car is powered by a Bosch Motronic fuel-injected 2.7-liter inline-6 paired with a Getrag 260 5-speed manual transmission. Records show a timing belt service and a new water pump, radiator, expansion tank, and thermostat and housing at 233k miles. Additional work includes the replacement of the shift linkage, fuel pump, fuel filter, ignition rotor, distributor cap, spark plugs, and wires at 251k miles, and a new fuel T-valve in the fall of 2017.
A new muffler was installed at 270k miles, as well as new shocks, bellows, and mounts in September 2020.
Receipts and maintenance records from new are included in the sale, totaling $40,000.

@InTheHunt – Eric, Any comments one the under carriage? How doe she feel (relatively given age) when driving...transmission/clutch and perceivable engine compression (power/pull)? Thank you! ...
the under carriage is clean. there is no damage very little rust. The Engine is clean. and the service system is operational and updated. (see video) I have had it driven by my mechanic at arizona bimmer (nick) and everything is tight and operational. The bottom line is that the mileage is not reflective of the $40K in maintenance records. it doesn't drift off to the left or right . The clutch is smooth and there really honestly are no issues other than some cosmetic trim and leather seats being original. The electric seats operate except for the head rests. all the window regulators work as does the sun roof. The car has been carefully cared for. I keep it garaged and there are no leaks obvious. The suspension is smooth and quiet. . You might find another one like it but not in this condition without having to spend $$$ to fix it up. I collect these classics and enjoy them (do whatever is needed to maintain them.). this year make model was one of my first cars so I have a love for it. They don't make such a simple reliable car like this any more.
@InTheHunt – Hi Eric, Thank you for the videos...how is the undercarriage? ...
I lowered the reserve. I really want a home for this great clean car

@ericsaul – I bought the car from the original owner. I own a couple of these classics myself. I love the design I'm a fan of this BMW 5 series. I have owned a few (this exact model/year was my car). They are so rock solid and reliable. Because of it documentation, and upkeep, it's a gem of a car and it's time for me to look for another one. I will have a video uploaded today. ...

@InTheHunt – Hello Seller, Did you purchase this vehicle new...sounds like you did. And the vehicle spent most of its life in CA and now is in AZ? Without video can you comment one the vehicle's transmission and rear end even if it is just a driver's perspective? ...

@SPEED – At 260,000+ miles just what can this car be worth ? In my world, with that kind of mileage it's sale proof, just saying. While it looks good for the amount of use it's had, there cannot be much 'life' left in it. ...
The car is hard to find. It has been meticulously cared for. Please review the images of the record summary in the photo section. Your comment doesn't hold meaning since this is a classic BMW and has over $40K. in documented restoration work and individual receipts. Everything on the vehicle is in working order. I do not think the mileage is relevant after all the work that was performed. Most models in the market now that have less miles still need all those rotted suspension and bushings to drive like new. this one has already had it done. This vehicle is a gem.
