OVERVIEW
This 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 has only 500 miles logged since the frame-off restoration. It is powered by a new 427cid big block V8 engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Features include power steering, power disc brakes, a tilt steering column, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. Finished in red over a black vinyl interior, this Chevelle is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally finished in Grecian Green (Code H) with a (Code 6) white vinyl top, the exterior was finished in red with white Yenko stripes during the restoration. Features include chrome bumpers, SS emblems, dual rear-view mirrors, new tinted glass, wheel opening moldings, and 427 engine call-out and Yenko badges. The selling dealer states that new quarter panels were installed. A walk around video can be seen below.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of silver 15-inch Chevy Rally wheels, with 1967 disc-brake center caps and trim ring, is wrapped in 265/50/R15 Grand Spirit GT radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally equipped with parchment imitation leather (Code 793-A), the front bucket seat, the rear seat, trim, and door panels are now newly upholstered in black vinyl. The floors and headliner are also new. Features include manual windows, power steering, a tilt steering column, SYC headrest logos, a center console-mounted manual transmission shifter, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and a fuel gauge are located ahead of the driver. With 500 miles added during the 10-year ownership, the odometer reads 46,565 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a new 427cid big block V8 engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, a four-barrel carburetor, tubular exhaust headers, and a chrome air cleaner housing. An oil change was completed in August of 2022.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Chevelle is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Suspension upgrades include new Hotchkiss front springs, tubular front upper control arms, rear springs, shocks, and a sway bar. The selling dealer states that during the restoration, new body and trunk floors were installed. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A three-inch dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
